Hi everyone! I am looking for a decent quality, mid-size knife similar to a Griptilian. A Griptilian would be my first pick and I may end up getting one anyway, but they are a little more expensive than I would like to pay right now.

The ones I have run across are the Byrd Cara Cara and the CRKT M16 or M21, maybe a Kershaw Vapor II. Serrated blades are out, because I just don't find them practical. If you all have any suggestions I would love to hear them, preferably not more than $50-60 range.

My favorite folder to date is the Kershaw blur. I carried spyderco's and benchmade while in the Marines.......but this Kershaw has outlasted them all.....and done it with style.

The assisted opening is the best thing since sliced bread.

My only minor complaint is that the handle material is a little rough and abrasive. I wish it was toned down just a bit......that said, I could easily do some judicious grinding with the dremel, but it hasn't bothered me enough to warrant it yet......I've had it for 2 or 3 years now.

Can't go wrong with it.

CRKT M16 spearpoint. ~$35 delivered from eBay.

Griptilians can be had for $60-$65 delivered from eBay.

Guys, thanks for the ideas. You all got me looking at Spydercos for the first time, and some of them look pretty good.

I like the Spyderco with the wave... I like it better than the Emerson Commander I have. It is lighter, and I don't worry about losing it.
