I've been looking around at .22 semi auto pistols recently, have a couple of options to choose from:

Ruger Mark IV 22/45, new, $359
S&W 422, used w/3 mags, $300 (asking)
Taurus TX22, new, $249

I have enough to buy ONE of the above at this time. I already own:

Colt Automatic .22 (1919 vintage)
Stoeger Luger .22
Browning Buckmark Camper
High Standard Sport King

I was initially looking at the Ruger models, as I had to give up my Mark II 22/45 (long story), but I ran across the other 2 while looking around. Now I'm not sure which way to go, they all look pretty good to me. I welcome any and all thoughts/opinions........

I have a Ruger Mark IV with thousands of rounds through it. It has yet to have a single malfunction and is accurate. I'd also recommend the Ruger.

The Ruger Mark iv 22/45. To make it really good, you’ll need a trigger kit and there are a few other pieces to replace if you have feeding issues. I have the 22/45 Lite and like it.

I have a Ruger Mark IV and it's a load of fun. Super easy to break down for cleaning too.

You'll love it!

Check to see if your serial number is subject to the Mark IV recall. Not that the recall really worries me (it's an incredibly complex series of actions that would cause the gun to fire, not something that would happen accidentally), but I think they give you a free extra mag as a thank you if you have the recall work done.

Obviously the Ruger is in general the favorite of everyone, including me. If you want one though to train with and give the feel of your defensive handguns get the Taurus. I have both and like both

I have a TX22 and love it. It also holds 16 rounds. I like it as much as my VP9 and PPQ. You'll see why in the video, this video is spot on about everything:

I have over 10k rounds through mine (All the cheap stuff - Armsor, aguila, golden bullet, thunderbolt, CCI etc) after the first 100 rounds, I can't recall any failures, other than Winchester white box which is s*** ammo anyway.
