Can the gun be altered so that the safety functions but will not lower the hammer if fully depressed? The optimal set-up for me would be a manual safety but no decocking mechanism.

Thanks

Variant 9 - safety, no decock, like a 1911.

All my USPs are set up so.

Takes a new detent plate (about $5), about five minutes, no tools required.

Ok, that looks promising, but if one already had the standard USP, could one send it to HK and have them convert it to another varient?

Thanks for this excellent info. It filled in a lot of blanks for me.

No need to send it back to H&K for service. If you're switching the control lever from right to left you could have an armorer do it for you, I suppose.

If you're changing variants but keeping the lever on the same side it really is a no-brainer, do it yourself job.
