A recent post elsewhere about preferred decocker system reminded me I had a question involving a CZ75D compact.
I purchased a Czech issue holster from SG Ammo.com. Good company apropos of nothing...
Upon arrival I begain "playing" with the new toy.
The pistol fits perfectly until one needs to secure the thumb break strap with the pistol at half cock, or decocked if you prefer.
As these are sold as unissued duty holsters I imagine the weapons were not equipped with decockers?
This seems the simplest explanation.
Its not a pressing issue as this was purchased to compliment my cold war(ish) collection of mag pouches, holsters, cleaning kits etc.
I also wanted a holster for range use as packing the firearm up in its case is annoying just to visit the head or a friend a few stalls away.
Yeah, there's a question in this meandering verbiage somewhere...
here it is.
Is the CZ75D capable of carefully lowering the hammer on a loaded chamber after decocking or not?
Similar to dropping thehammer on a Colt Navy or similar. Trigger/hammer manipulation.
I have no real desire to actually do this, I'm just curious.
Reading that thread reminded me Id never found an answer so I thought Id post her up here.
Thanks all.

You can manually lower the hammer all the way past the 1/2 cock notch, bypassing the decocker entirely by capturing the hammer with your fingers, and easing the trigger rearward enough to free the hammer from the sear and guiding it all the way forward. The downside is that you will have to squeeze the trigger the whole time to get past the half cock notch and while the trigger is in play, the firing pin block will be lifted, so if you slip you might have enough hammer movement to 1) inadvertently fire a round hopefully into a safe backstop 2) send the slide and hammer quickly rearward into your exposed fingers potentially battering them bloody. Practice this with an empty gun. For me it wouldn't be worth the trouble just to use that holster. Could also be the holster itself is a bit out of spec, or intended to be used with a 75B with a safety being carried condition 1 (cocked and locked).

Appreciate the response.
Your list of possible things to go wrong mirrors my own.
The greatest concern is the slide crushing fingers as there would be no way in hell Id attempt this without regard to discharge of the bullet into an appropriate stop.
Ive wondered about this for nearly a year now, the length of time Ive owned this particular pistol.
While Ive actually practiced the exact manipulations you described in an empty pistol many months before I stumbled across the holster never once have I used a live cartridge.
Obviously, I guess, since I'm asking about it.
The holster rekindled my curiosity and failing to procure any solid info, including contacting CZ( they more or less gave a politicians answer, say a bunch of words but never actually commit an answer. Lawsuit protection I assume.) I forgot it until stumbling across the aforementioned decocker preference thread.
What really annoys me is under the stamped crest on the holsters back is stamped CZ75DCOM.
Probably nothing to do with that exact model but mildly annoying to me for some reason.
After posting I went and fussed with it a wee bit more, I erred slightly with my original post.
You can attach the strap over the hammer in halfcock position provided you use both hands pull like hell and the holster is actually in said hands not on a belt.
Seems unlikely this is the method used by Czech police so I'm inclined to agree/believe they were issued service weapons with safety's not decockers.
Another minor detail is while the description States fitting both regular and compact models I don't really see the larger version fitting as well as the D model.
It seems the compact is an exact fit with the muzzle ending just shy of the open end of the holster where as the larger regular CZ75 would poke through the end by a considerable amount.
By just shy I mean between 1/16 and 1/32 of an inch, probably coming closer to 1/32.
Anyway, I appreciatethe response and will probably let it go again unless I wander across some blanks and get the urge to really find out.
The holster works just fine for what I need, clear the firearm, holster, and walk about the range freely.
Cheers.
