My friend and his other half from Anacortes WA came back to Upstate New York with me for two weeks to hunt deer and to go see a couple of sights. (The Liberty Bell and the Statue of Liberty).
They rented a basic primitive hunting camp on two acres surrounded by a whole lot of State Land.

We walked the woods right behind the cabin down to the seasonal limited road . It was a mile hike. We seen a set of semi fresh bear tracks and lots of deer sign.
Across the road we walked to the state land extended way in to that big area. Plus across the road of the cabin is lots of state land.
First day Ed got a small deer then his other half got a deer on the 3rd day shortly after her deer Ed shot a nice small racked 8 point.
The next morning I shot a nice doe. The following day my brother shot a spike buck.
We have been seeing a lot of deer but the only shooting opportunities was at very small deer so they are getting a free pass to see next year.
We could of shot atleast fifteen small deer. There were three today we let go.

They flew back to Seattle Tuesday afternoon and took 120 pounds of venison with them.
We have my brother's spike buck to cut up. I promised a friend the next deer we harvest. When we get another after the next one I'll take some of that one back with me.
I'm looking for some properties to buy for a hunting camp.

A friend and his better half from here in Washington state will be flying back to Upstate New York tomorrow for Saturday's deer opener. I found a primitive camp for them to stay in. A one room insulted cabin
.my brother has been getting it set up for them. Propane heaters Propane lanterns and a electric generator. They will be staying there for two weeks. I'll probably spend a couple of nights there with them.
I'll get more pictures Wednesday.

Primitive? That's FAR from primitive to me, and the hunting I've always done!

That cabin is just an insulated 12x20 building with no electric. No water and an out house.
We took them propane heaters and propane lights.

Which makes it a palace compared to hunting out of most tents, that aren't even insulated.

Dang, it doesn't have electric? That's terrible! lol BTW, I don't even heat my tents when I'm hunting... lol

I'm there to actually hunt, not make a camping trip out of it, that's probably why I always tagged out...

To each their own...

Um, five deer so far isn't to bad I don't think.
We still have plenty of tags left to fill and will fill more tags.
We let all of the small deer pass. Every day we could shoot a deer if we want to.
We hunt to enjoy ourselves and shoot plenty of deer legally. After we get what we want we donate deer to the Venison Donation Coalition.
The difference in hunting is Washington state average deer kill is 26,000 deer year
New York state the average deer kill is 220,000 a year.
Pennsylvania the average deer kill is 330,000 deer a year.
We do harvest lots of deer. I gave up being Danial Boome decades ago.
To old to freezing my butt of sleeping on the ground is a tent when the Temps are in the teens and some times near 0 degrees out.
Them days are long gone.

Insulation makes life a whole lot more pleasurable so you can focus on the important things in life.

No argument from me on that, but to call a big insulated heated cabin with beds and a generator ect. "primitive" is laughable! lol

That WAS my point and still is.

I'm not ashamed of my hunting blind.
It took a year of preparation, three years of working in my spare time to get it completed and in the woods.
