Deer retrieval unit finally done ....lets see yours!

Here's mine for at home and the neighbors:

I did buy one of these for the UTV though:

The guides we hunted with in MT used similar platforms to the OPs, but they installed them in the front, to keep the dust off the animals while they drove. I might look at similar because my UTV has front and rear receivers.

Mine typically looks a whole lot like an iPhone and a ratchet strap without the ratchet end. I call my dad who is busy at home 1/2 mile away. He brings his Rhino to pick up whatever needs picked up. Same goes for putting out and taking down blinds and stands. He doesn’t hunt much any more so it gets him out in the woods and he enjoys it. The ratchet strap is the best thing I have found for a quick and easy cinch. Over the head and cinch. Quick knot to make a loop to go across my chest and I take off walking to the closest place to meet the Rhino.

1500# Warn ATV winch mounted on back bumper of jeep and telescoping boom reels 'em in from tight cover.

Big or small, it gets 'em all, and transports them to cooler in camp.
The pickup steps up when hauling directly from field to town. An electric boat trailer winch mounted in front of bed w/a 3/4inch roller just in front of tail gate, and drawer type tray/ramp setup.

3/4" plywood ramp is carried flat in "drawer" w/regular door hinge halves mounted @ back of tray, matching 1/2 on ramp, just roll drawer out even w/tailgate, slide ramp out, match up hinges and insert 1/4" pins to secure.

Just insert pins to secure ramp to drawer and suck it up. The old back gave out years ago.

Those CJ's will run forever w/a little TLC. I was a bit sceptical of the TJ when I first got it, but it turned out well after all. Only complaint I had was the transmission was not syncromesh like the old CJ's. The old transmissions you could run through the gears without using the clutch but sure couldn't do that w/the newer ones.

Yep and on occaasion I have done that.. Low Low will climb just about anything as long as you got some grip...

One of my jeeps broke the linkage between the clutch an pedal so clutch remained engaged. CO wanted to tow it back to the motor pool with an M75. Talked him into letting me drive it back (about 20 miles) and we pushed it off. Made it all the way back and never clashed a gear.....needless to say, didn't make any full stops and only rolled through one stop sign en route. Sure beat staring at the tail end of an M75 on a short tow cable for 20 miles.:)

My previous home was surrounded by farmland. My gentleman farmer friend always insisted that I use his newest tractor that cost many times more than my house. I did a couple of times to appease him, but it was certainly more stressful than dragging a deer.

Various beater Jeeps over the yrs.
Drive right to the deer.

Now I have a nice Jeep.........and my bud a nice truck.
Luckily the spot we hunt now is ag along side.
We had to drag both deer 75 yards to the vehicles. Not bad.
Twice he's shot em in the woods but they died in the field.
Pretty convenient.
