Defensive handguns: What's you preference for trigger pull weight?

For me, I like single action automatics (Hi-Power and 1911), and like the trigger to be crisp and clean, with no overtravel and little slack, breaking at around 5-6 pounds, but no less than 5. Where to you like your trigger pull weight to be?

I carried a Commander for several years that was 4.5 lbs. on a couple of fairly accurate pull scales, and it was about perfect for me - certainly wouldn't go lighter. For DA, revolver or auto, a smooth 10 lb. pull seems right.

I'm tempted to say "Just shoot the d*** thing." In a real life defensive use, I doubt I'd notice.

As long as it isn't really excessive, weight isn't a huge factor to me. The feel is. A good, smooth DA pull on revolver makes me as happy as a nice crisp 4lb trigger on a 1911. The low limit for me is 3.5-4 lbs. And this coming from a Glock fan, go figure.

SA - 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 lbs, DA 7-9 SMOOTH lbs.

A smooth six pounds for a Single Action. When the adrenaline flows, I can't tell the difference between a two pound trigger and a ten pound. And it adds a measure of safety compared to lighter triggers. For a DA, a smooth 8-10 pound trigger works. To me a smooth trigger of almost any weight is better than a mushy two pounder where accuracy is concerned.

I like a heavier weight, maybe 8 lb DA and 4+ lb SA for self defensive. If I'm pulling out a weapon there's a strong possibility I'll have to hold someone at gunpoint and I'd rather not accidentally shoot them (only intentionally). I'll be nervous as hell and my fine motor skills will probably go away for a while.

My Kimber has a 3.5lb pull.

I like it.

I'm going to have my HP taken to the same weight when I get a chance (well, to about 4lbs).

I only know the trigger pull weight on one of my guns. DA on my Ruger Speed Six is a slick 8-lbs. I once had a Colt Commander that had a
4-4 1/2 lb. trigger pull, and that seemed about right.

The only trigger work I have ever had done on a 1911 was done by Clarks and I specified a four pound pull.
The 1911 that I shoot all the time has a lighter pull than that, or at least it feels lighter to me but I have never measured it. I didn't have anything done to the tirgger. I just fired about twenty thousand rounds through it.
