Defensive Dynamics, LLC will be conducting its Defensive Pistol 1 and Defensive Pistol 2 classes at Georgia Range & Guns in Forest Park, Georgia, on July 9 and August 6, respectively. Course descriptions follows:

DEFENSIVE PISTOL (DP1)

For most civilians, the handgun is the primary - and often only - weapon available in time of immediate need. DP1 focuses on the defensive use of a handgun in the home and, as such, students will not be drawing from holsters in this course. Students will learn to deal with the fundamentals of stress, use of cover, and the benefits and challenges of light. Safe firearms handling, marksmanship, and post-shooting defensive measures will be instilled. This course will measurably increase your confidence and methodically improve your ability to protect yourself and your loved ones.

This is a four-hour course consisting of both classroom and range time. tudents are required to furnish their own factory ammunition (no reloads) and a reliable semi-automatic pistol or revolver of modern manufacture. If necessary, you may rent a handgun from the range facility. Suitable calibers include .38, .9mm, .357, .40, and .45. Students should bring 200 rounds of training/range ammunition. Hearing and eye protection is required.

Prerequisite: None. Course Cost: $125.00

Defensive Pistol 2 (DP2)

DP2 builds on the skills developed in DP1 (or LDP) and equips the dedicated self-defense student with more advanced handgun skills necessary for surviving a life-threatening situation on the street, in the car, or in other public settings. You must possess and furnish a valid Georgia Firearms License (or equivalent from another state) to be considered for this course. Students will be taught how to read their environment, how to avoid armed confrontation, and how to swiftly and decisively end a life-threatening situation should responsible and legal employment of a handgun be necessary. Selection of firearms and holsters will be covered. As in DP1, the fundamentals of stress and use of cover will be emphasized. This course, however, presents the student with the added challenges of drawing from concealment, adverse angles, shooting while moving (or from the confines of a vehicle), reloading while faced with an active shooter, threat discrimination, malfunctions clearing, engaging multiple targets, and securing the scene for the arrival of law enforcement. This course will prepare you for the worst, yet train you to avoid conflict when possible.

This is a six-hour course consisting of classroom and range time. Students are required to furnish their own factory ammunition (no reloads) and a reliable semi-automatic pistol or revolver of modern manufacture.
