Tell me about the Del-Ton AR15 parts kits? I just ordered a 16" rifle kit from them to complete my S&W lower. Are they a good kit? Should I have looked elsewhere?

The best thing since sliced bread;)A1...... Did they tell you about how long it would be for your order?I'm thinkin two months ?

Think again. The kit I ordered on Nov 23rd is now in the production shop and is supposed to ship this week or early next. 5 months and 5 days so far. Worth the wait for me, but I already have a few rifles.

I just got my second del-ton kit last week. Nice kits that run good but you are in for a long wait. I ordered on 11/19/08 and I got it on 4/19/09. I think the waits even longer now. Mark

Expect minimum of 6-months to a year. 6-months and waiting for my kit... I didn't even bother to call and ask. Back the last time we had a presidential rush on firearms, the industry recovered in about three years with the capacity to make more and make them faster. DPMS has been in full swing, but the demand had increased at least 10-fold.

I had a mid-length 16". It's a good range gun, and can be trusted to take a bit of a beating if need be, but it isn't duty-quality. I sold mine because I bought a top-line midlength (no use in having two identical platforms in the same caliber), so I didnt need the Del-Ton anymore. It funded a gun safe and a glock. Either way, I was happy to have it, and wouldnt mind picking up another (probably a 20") in the near (or distant) future.

Kit shipped today. Nov 23 order date from Del-Ton.

I ordered on Nov 30, so I've probably got another week or fifteen to wait. I've only heard good about them, and their prices haven't budged despite the rush. Sounds like good people to do business with.

What is a "Top Line" Rifle? Looks like it will be 4-6 months currently.

Colt, Noveske, LMT, Sabre, Charles Daly, CMMG, S&W...

brands like those.

I personally have a CMMG with a few optional in-house upgrades/add-ons to it.

Being new to AR's can 'splain to me what makes the CMMG -S&W etc.. better than buying a S&W lower and assembling parts from a kit?

I did a lot of reading before purchasing and it appears the Del-Ton barrels are made by Wilson Arms....who by all accounts make barrels for a lot of other companies, including government suppliers.

Not trying to be argumentative, so don't take these questions the wrong way. Just trying to learn about these AR's.

I have a middy upper from del-ton mated to a doublestar lower. absolutely no problems! eats all the commie stuff like nothing! I would definitly order from them again but i'm not going to wait 6-8 months before I see it.

We have built 4 complete rifles from Del-ton, and there will be 2 more. Lots of parts, the only place I buy kits from.
