Another cheap AR - I know, how exciting. But this one's kind of interesting.

I was flipping through Bud's today, and saw that Delton released a version 2 of their Sport. This one's got a melonited pencil barrel and a plastic flip-up sight, for $440 delivered. Also a steel magazine, which I thought was kind of weird.

At that point, I don't think the Delton is too far off specs-wise from what S&W and Ruger are offering, and it's $50-$100 less than those guns. And I think the Delton's barrel is a big real-world advantage over those 2. Neither one lines their barrels IIRC, and pencil barrels handle a lot better than the A2 profiles (which I personally see zero reason for).

Again - cheap ARs are basically all the same. But this one is so cheap, and brings enough to the table, that I think it might soon elbow its way alongside the Smith and Ruger as the go-to entry level guns.

The DT Sports are the most underrated inexpensive and reliable AR platform on the market. Mine's dialed in and I love it. DTSport_n.jpg

I believe a mod here said it, with all the lay offs and closedowns, buy something with lasting customer support. If your an AR guy, buy whatever. If not, go for the S&W or Ruger and you'll always have something to fall back on free of charge (usually) ;)

I have several DelTon barrels and BCG's and I used them with AeroPrecision uppers and lowers. I have never been disappointed in anything DelTon I have bought. The Sport is a great buy and if it's anything like I have it is a great value for a great rifle.

I like the pencil barrel on the DelTon, but id go for the ruger just because i like its grip better. Thats just me tho, ive used some delton parts never had an issue.
