I'm going to be looking for a 16" upper, with a Picatinny rear base and normal AR front sight. I've narrowed it down to either a Del-ton or DPMS, due to the price point. I'm basically going to use this for all around fun; I plan to mount a scope and basically shoot paper, steel, etc. Plus the added advantage of using it tactically if necessary. But I'm not going to be doing the mall ninja, Zombie killing, mag-dump thing. I know that neither of these brands is high-end, but they will do for me, as long as they are reliable. I like the Del-ton because it is available with a mid-length hand guard, plus it's a little cheaper. But I don't want to sacrifice quality.
My question is whether any of you have experience with either brand, and can provide some recommendations of one vs. the other.
Rules before you respond: 1) I don't need to hear that I can't get one, so save the moaning for another post. 2) Please don't tell me to spend X dollars more and buy brand Y. If money was no object, I obviously would not be focused on these two brands.
Thanks
