del-ton vs. palmetto build kits

Midway has the Delton kit on sale for 400 some dollars. I built one last year. The upper is assembled, the lower is not, lower receiver is separate. My was of very good quality, 20 inch Gov rifle. I got excellent service and fast shipping from Midway. The rifle shoots under 1 MOA with Black Hills ammo no problem. The gunsmith I showed it to said. He has built thousands and pretty much all the parts come from the same factory's. I have no idea which barrels other than mine will shoot under 1 MOA of any barrel. The gunsmith said again, if you want guaranteed accuracy you need to spend over $200 on just the barrel. I must be lucky but I would recommend Del-Ton. I don't know anything about Palmetto.

A friend of mine has had one great and one really bad Del-Ton AR, they were fixed quickly, so it all was good. He and I both have had nothing but good experiences with PSA. My AR was built from a Magpul MOE blem lower (I never could find any "blems" on it, it looked perfect), and I bought a PTAC mid length upper, not knowing there were a fair number of complaints about them. It had no problems at all, and my only complaint is that it's the heaviest 16" AR I've ever seen, due to the "bull barrel". I added a Vortex Strikefire red/green dot and a cheap quad rail, and it's good to go, well, it would be, if I hadn't taken the Vortex off and messed up the POA enough that I will need to sight it in again. I think I'll wait until springtime..

It's not a bull barrel, but it is an HBAR, and yes, they are hefty. A true bull barrel is an almost straight contour, usually with a .936" gas block:
