Delay in NJ

No, not as good, you pay, they ship it to your ffl, then ffl puts it in safe.
In NJ, once you have the firearm, you are good to go.
I will put in my vote for Lonagan
Any way, I am happy to report that after 150 rounds today, as a break in period, its one nice shooter.
Groups were tight.
Very nice. I took the Beretta 92 with me as well just to have some fun.
The Kimber is a beauty, I hope to get many years out of it.

I am confused....

You do not have a purchasers permit...YET you purchased the gun from the FFL and did a 4473 for but not the NJ paperwork...

It's in his safe....YET he let's you take it out to the range to shoot it as long as you return it??

Huh??

That is rather odd....unless I do not understand your arrangement.

I think what the OP did is this:

[vinflouen, please feel free to correct me if this is wrong]

1. Went to a shop and found a gun he liked.
2. Put down the money for it.
3. Filled out the 4473, and waited for the word that he passed the NICS check.
4. Watched the FFL put his gun into a safe, where it would be kept until the NJ paperwork went through.
5. Filled out the required NJ paperwork and submitted it.
6. Received the word (after several weeks) that his paperwork had gone through.
7. He went to the shop and took possession of the gun.

The only confusing part was that he said it was being kept at a range, which I assume meant that the gun shop where he bought it has an attached range. I, too, initially thought he took it to a different range, but the OP said that wasn't the case.

Makes me like KY more & more.. W/a CCW permit there's not even a call in required :D. Just fill out the 4473, pay your $ & walk out the door. Want more than 1 gun @ a time, no problem, how much do you have to spend?

No,
you guys need clarification.
I paid for the gun, the gun was shipped to my ffl, the ffl ran the nics check and i paid my ffl $17 for the nics check.
Only after all of this was done, including my NJ pistol purchase permit from my local police, then I actually took posession of the gun.
1. Pay for gun
2. gun gets shipped to ffl
3. you get permit from local cops
4. you take permit to ffl
5. you pay ffl 17 and he runs nics check
6. you take your gun home

I hope that clears it up. Its complicated in NJ, but when you see a piece you like, you BUY IT, and wait for the papers...LOL

sorry, I forgot to point out, my range wont let me shoot that gun until all the checks are passed.
So they kept it in the safe until I came in with the papers.
