Delayed Tonight

Akita1 I ran into this about 6 years ago when my Dad passed (I am a "Jr.") and the FBI told my LGS they were selling to a deceased person and to check for fraud. I took the time to point out the SSN and DOB and after about 3 mos. it stopped.
No way the FBI told this to the dealer.
FBI NICS will NEVER tell the dealer why a buyer is delayed or denied. Somebody at your local gun store is inventing stuff.

The pin number is a good thing. I got one a few years back and no longer get delayed. I always got delayed for 2 days before I got the number, maybe because of my divorce and she had a restrain order on me.

Starting this year I have been getting delayed every time. Shortest is 3 hours. Longest has been a day. Very frustrating. The only since the last time i had bought a gun is I got out of the army 2 years ago(honorable discharge). Would this cause a delay? My last name is pretty unique so I doubt there is someone prohibited with a similar name causing the issue.

Let's see if this makes sense to anyone. I had transfers with one dealer for two years and never went to "further review." I switched to another dealer two years ago and now always have "further review." Coincidence?

There are 6 gun shops, 2 pawn shops, and Walmart/Academy that I purchase guns from. The only delay was from one of the pawn shops (refer to post 17 for the reason). Food for thought, Saturday 10/12 paid for and walked out with 1 rifle/2 handguns. Today, 10/15, paid for and walked out with a handgun. These purchases were made from the same shop.
Ole farmerbuck, how did you go about getting a PIN? I was joking with the dealer about having a number issued to me personally to speed up the NICS call!

__I think I got the paperwork from my dealer.

ole farmerbuck .....how did you go about getting a PIN?....
UPIN's may not stop delays, but are intended to stop denials. Some who have a UPIN still get delayed (I have one customer with a UPIN that gets delayed for about an hour each time)

Click on this link to the FBI NICS:
http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/nics/nics
in the menu on the right side, choose "Voluntary Appeal File brochure",

A VAF allows the FBI to keep your information on file permanantly.

From the FBI NICS map it appears that Kansas has a firearm permit that qualifies as an exemption to the NICS...........why not go that route instead?
