Democrats Eye November Landslide

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., says GOP majorities are "clearly in jeopardy" because the political landscape is both anti-incumbent and anti-Republican.

What a dumb a$$. Hey statist, time to look in the mirror.

Dems talk a good game but they fail in planning...

This IS the GOP problem!! The GOP talk a great game.......what we get is more Govt. (Its limited Govt.....stupid.)

Remember how we all felt back in 1994 when the Brady Bill and the AWB passed? Despite what Dem pollsters say I just don't feel a surrounding outrage sentiment that existed then that they are saying exists today. There are a lot of people upset with the wars going on but not enough of a voting wave like what we had in 1994 to monumentally change the makeup of Congress.

Maybe Mary Mapes will be rehabilitated to report
on the next election as well as she did on the last.

But seriously, most Democrat and Republican politicians
seem to be in contact only with that artificial
virtual reality construct called Washington DC. They
are not even on the same planet we are in, they
are in some altered state of mind.

They need more time than ever to get away for fund raising activity. With that in mind, you'd have to wonder if the people writing those larger checks want something different than what we believe to be the average voter sentiment. Perhaps we are projecting what it should be rather than knowing what it actually is. I would think a lot of it still has to do with "pork", which is not exactly a lofty concept.

Even though it pains me a great deal. I will vote for the Republicans because even my one vote might keep a gun grabbing liberal out of office and more importantly at the presidential level it will keep them from appointing Supreme Court Justices...

No offense meant to anyone who might be of the liberal persuasion.

Folks, a vote for a third party is a vote for her. She will go for an AWB with teeth, and no sunset provision. Then we will see if the Molon Labe is for real.

For me, I will pull the R lever and continue to work from inside the party to steer it in the right direction.

I am curious... what do you think you are doing to steer the party in the right direction? Who is helping you steer it? What progress have you been making for the last six years?

You bug them and bug them and bug them during the none election years.

Election years you find somebody to run against the incumbent and give your time and money to get them elected.

And, over the last six years, what has all this hard work changing the party from the inside accomplished?

Have the Republicans reigned in spending?

Have they downsized the bureaucracy?

Have they cut government welfare?

Have they butted out of private business?

Have they started doing any of the things that a conservative party should do?

Oh gezzz, not this again....:banghead:

If voting ones convictions ends up with a gun grabbing loon (my apologies to true Loons) in office, then let it be so and lets get the dance started.

No, but they have nice hair. :uhoh:

Ken Blackwell is our best hope.....

If Blackwell is as staunchly pro 2A as he was to his own TEL amendment then he is just as risky as Strickland. I was prepared to vote for Blackwell in spite of his affinity for the Christian Taliban until he abandoned his own TEL referendum; now I am quite frankly more than a little 'gunny' where Blackwell is concerned.

Personaly I am going to go with either the Libertarian party or the Constitution party for president in 08. Leaning toward the Constitution party right now. In terms of congress, I'm going to vote to clean house. Get the Dems that are in right now out and get some new blood in.

Dems will probably get some new seats but they will likely loose some seats in places that are conservative, but vote in Dem represenatives like North Dakota.

The object is to further one's agenda within the constraints of our political system.

And a fundamental constraint of our political system is that parties that are ideologically pure do not attain power. This is the reason that the Libertarians will remain a marginal party. They do not tolerate much dissent from the party line, and are not interested in moderating their position. They are certainly free to do that, just don't expect to attain much power. You are simply never going to get that many people to agree with you.

So you have to work within the constraints of what you have while keeping your eyes on the big prize, and that does not mean ceding all power to those that want to take you guns.

We have made excellent progress throughout the 90's and later. Why people want to throw away that progress amazes me.
