Anyone have any experience with Mec-Gar 1911 mags? I am looking for a reliable 1911 mag other than the Wilson (which tends to get a bit pricey for me). I have tried Act-Mag (makers of the Novak mags), but had a problem with the round diving. I have used Mec-Gars in my CZs and my Berettas without a problem and was hoping their 1911 mags were as reliable as well. I am trying to feed 230gr hollow points.

For 1911s, without hesitation... CHIP McCORMICK Power Mags!...
Alot of 1911s seem to be finicky feeding certain rounds thru (no matter what price the gun), NOT the CMs...
IMHO these are the best mags for the price for a 1911!

.

I use Chip McCormick Power Mags as well. I have some of the Wilsons, but they don't like to engage the slide stop of my Springfield Loaded when the gun gets dirty (known issue with Wilsons and Springfield 1911's from what I've read).

No experience with Mec-Gar for 1911's, but they're the only aftermarket mags I'll buy for many brands of handguns.

Mec-Gar makes some of the finest magazines in the world. They make mags. for Brownings and other's. I have used them in my 1911's with no problems whatsoever. As a matter of fact I've not had a problem with a 1911 and GI mags.

I've used CM with several brands, including my old Kimber, and current Colts, Springfields, and Remington. Had some issues with it with the Springfields and Colts, so I went with the Wilsons, and they seem to work fine, but like I said, they get a bit pricey.

I don't know anything about the 2 Act mags that came with my Desert Eagle 1911C that I got a few days ago, but I plan to use only factory 7 round Colt mags with the hybrid feed lips. Going to reserve the Act for range only.

I bought some off gunbroker and have to wait a few days to try them and the DE 1911C out. I've been on storm watch and damage assessment since our tornado on the 25th.

I found this interesting. http://how-i-did-it.org/magazines2/read-my-lips.html

I just got this sale notice fron CDNN.

**BELOW COST SALE**
1911 45acp 7rd Stainless Mag w/ Removable Bottom New Metalform
Price: $14.99
SALE: $9.99
**BELOW COST SALE**
1911 45acp 8rd Blue Mag New Metalform
Price: $12.99
SALE: $9.99

Anyone know anything about Metalform mags? These seem to be a decent price- but should I expect to get what I pay for (i.e. cheap)?

The Mec-gar 1911 mags are highly under-rated. Superb quality and reliability, as good as, if not better than anything out there.

The Wilson/Chip McC./Other mag users have probably never used a 1911 Mec-gar. Buy with confidence.

I have used Mec-Gar 1911 mags for a couple of years and never had a problem. I also use them in my CZs and SIG. They are superb mags.

They're good for me grayrock. Never any trouble.

The CDNN metalforms I got have not been 100% but I'm not sure if they're real metalforms. I got yelled at the last time I said that, but from everything I've read metalforms are supposed to be among the most reliable 1911 mags, high quality, etc. And they're a lot more expensive from other places.

The ones I got seem a bit flimsy and I have had a couple FTFs with them. YMMV
