I had determined there were several commercial .357 magnum loads available for the Desert Eagle I had recently purchased, on my 1st trip to the range. My trip today was to check out some commerical .44 magnum loads and a few reloads for the DE44. Some of these I had around simply because I do not enjoy shooting them in my S&W 629 Classic due to recoil. I use moderate recoil (mod) for roughly equivilent to a 4" S&W .357 magnum firing 145 grain Winchester Silver Tips. Mod - is a little less felt recoil than that and mod+ is a little more.

Commercial:
Federal Power Shok 180 grain JHP 1550 fps mod recoil
Hornady XTP/HP 200 grain JHP 1240 fps mod- recoil
Remington R44MG5 180 grain SJHP 1525 fps mod recoil
Buffalo Bore Hvy .44 Spl 185 grain JHP 1285 fps
soft recoil **

Reloads:
300 grain Nosler with 14.8 grains of Alliant 2400 1050 fps mod- recoil
270 grain GDSP under 21.5 grains W296 1260 fps mod+
240 grain Nosler JHP using 19.3 grains of Alliant 2400 1200 fps mod- recoil
200 grain GDHP under 27.0 grains of Winchester W296 1475 fps mod recoil *

* BIG BOOMER/BIG FLASHER

** failed to chamber a new round, although the empty case was extracted and ejected.

I really enjoy shooting this pistol. The weight and gas system really curb the recoil. My scope is calibrated for 240 grain .44 magnum bullets with a muzzle velocity of 1400 fps

This is going to be almost too easy. :what:
