Looking at a excellent condition Desert Eagle 9mm (all steel not poly) with a frame mounted safety. All the ones I had previously seen were slide mounted.

Can anyone tell me anything more about this gun. It is considered better, worse, the same? Why were some made with slide mounted but not anymore? Any issues yt? hat i need to be aware of?

This will just be a fun range gun

Probably the same.

They are basically CZ clones, but because of the frame mounted safety, you had to manually decock them to get to double action mode, which I suppose on a duty type of gun is the favored mode. They went to the slide mounted safety/decocker which is just like the Walther P38, Beretta 92FS, S&W Traditional Double Action autos, and Ruger P-Series guns, that at one time were extremely popular and sold in the millions.

TennJed -

I have one of the older IMI Baby Eagles (full size) in 9mm. This one has the slide mounted safety/de-cocker.
I recently acquired a CZ75 P-01 and out of curiosity tried one of the Eagle's 16rd. mags in the CZ. The Eagle mags fit, lock, & function but, they stick out of the butt approx. 1". The P-01 (this is a compact model) mags are too short to fit in the Eagle.
I've been looking at the CZ75B (full size) so I'd also be curious as to whether the full size CZ75 and the Baby Eagle's mags are interchangeable.

FYI - the Baby Eagle is one of my favorite 9mm's. I bought mine to replace a BHP that was stolen. Full size, all steel, with a hammer - mine is very accurate & ultra reliable. I've shot everything in it including 62gn MagSafes with not one malfunction.

I've had a bunch of Tanfoglio guns, but never had a Baby or Jericho. A LGS had one, with an insane price on it last year, and I almost got sucked in.
