Detroit. um... Dogg.
ok, I know this is silly, but some over-the-top part of me wants a .50AE Desert Eagle. likely blued, but ya know, if you're going over the top anyway, maybe chrome. I was looking at one the other day, and I realized it's really not *that* much bigger than a Beretta 92... which leads me to wonder... does anyone make an IWB holster for a "Deagle"? or even a OWB? assuming I actually get one, and it proves reliable, the impetus to carry it on occasion would be nearly irresistable.. :neener: :what:

Resist the temptation, Eric! Don't waste your money on such a piece of crap!!! Ya know, the people who control Israeli Military Industries only agreed to manufacture those things for Magnum Research so that their people would have something to do during the periodic waning of their own light arms production.

Look at the things real close, guy. On every one I've ever seen, the slide rails aren't even straight!!! But worse than that, the barrels aren't even hewn out of single pieces of steel. And the frames are investment castings!!! I'm tellin' ya, my little boy could build a gun of superior quality!!!!! :cuss:

It's a real shame, too, because from a conceptual standpoint, nothing more brilliant or more ingenious has come along since the M1911!

SRM

PS - The day we see these guns being manufactured to the same standards as the guns of any of the leading custom 1911 houses is the day that I quit my job and start selling them for a living!!! Oh yeah, and they need to be chambered for 10mm Magnum and .45 Winchester Magnum before they're chambered for .41 and .44 Magnum! The latter are revolver cartridges, damn it!

It may not be that much bigger than a Beretta 92, but with an unloaded magazine, it weighs 4 lbs 6 oz. I know of someone whos actually built an AR-15 that weighs less than that!

It's not the size that'd keep you from carrying one, it'd be the weight.

I've got one in .50 AE and I'm telling ya, if you want an idea of what it'd be like to carry one, lug around a concrete block for the day. I asked a local gun shop if they made any type of holster for them, the only thing they knew of was a shoulder holster.

I have a belt holster made by DE for the thing. It's OK for range use, but I wouldn't want to walk all day with it.

SRMohawk- my experiences certainly have not been similar to yours in terms of the DE. Mine has never had a glitch and it very well made.

But worse than that, the barrels aren't even hewn out of single pieces of steel.
The Mark VII's had three piece barrels, the Mark XIX's have a one piece barrel and are extremly accurate. I had no trouble at all getting 3" groups at 50 yards with a rest and a red dot sight with my Mark XIX .357.
I had a vertical shoulder rig from Gould & Goodrich that was nice.
Eventually the impracticality of the DE began to show and I ended up trading it for a Freedom Arms model 97. Never looked back.
If you can afford a DE, you can afford a Freedom Arms.

thanks guys. I fully realise that it's not a daily carry kind of thing. I just think it would be neat to have in a holycowthat'sbig kind of way. :p

I know what ya mean....I thought it'd be pretty cool to do a double shoulder holster setup. Then I realized I didn't want to spend another grand on another D.E. .50.
