I just got this massively over sized joke of a gun yesterday, and had some questions.

The scope is a leupold M8-2x extended e.r. What does the ring thing on the back of the eye piece do? I turned it a little, and it didn't seem to do anything.

Are these decent scopes? Any idea on what it might be worth? I checked midwayusa for them and didn't see it listed, so I'm guessing it's an old model.

How much magnification power do most handgun scopes usually have anyway? This one seems so low powered that it would hardly justify the extra weight and cost over iron sights.

There's a good chance I'll probably just sell the scope anyway though. The gun is way too heavy as it is, and the scope makes it handle really awkward for me. It looks a lot uglier with a scope on it too, and looks are pretty much the only reason I bought it to begin with.

I've seen pics online of desert eagles with custom grips. Looking at mine though, I don't see any screws or anything to take them off. Anyone know how to take them off?

I'm hoping the weather clears up so I can shoot it this weekend. The desert eagle has been near the top of my wish list since I was a little kid, mainly because of how wicked looking they are. Now that I finally have one though, I think the novelty will wear off quick and I'll sell/trade it for something else. The gun is just way too big and heavy for me. I can barely pull the slide back, and I can't even reach the mag release without changing my grip.

It brings a smile to my face every time I pick it up and fondle it though, so that's gotta count for something.

I showed it off to my parents and a few old hunters I know that normally despise anything that's not a blue/walnut bolt action rifle, and even they were grinning when they picked it up, so clearly the "deagles" have some appeal to more people than just mall ninjas. I just hope it's as accurate and reliable as it is big and heavy.

A rifle scope won't work well on a handgun, and you don't want that thing any closer to your face than the furthest your arms allow. Trust me.

Probably focus, maybe parallax. I'm not familiar with that scope.

A spring loaded pin on the bottom of the grip frame, behind the mag.

In which case you will probably have difficulty controlling the recoil, thus making the gun unreliable (especially if it is a .50). They need to be handled authoratively. And keep your hand off of the bottom of the magazine when shooting. They need to free float.
