......I have never seen a 14 incher before. That should come with a bipod.

14 incher is a dream to shoot, accuracy is amazing. Have taken game at 200 yards with this set up. Yes, a bipod does help steady the cross hairs. Had an underlug added so a Harris Bipod could be attached.

I doubt you'll find many real Desert Eagle owners...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Who refer to their guns as "Deagles". That's a Counterstrike Kiddie term, and usually makes us Desert Eagle owners cringe.

Yes, cringe, or vomit :barf:

Life has no reset buttons.

luv my Deagle

I have had my DE .50 for a couple of years and love shooting it. I have put >1000 rnds through it and have had no failures of any type, it is a well built handgun. It is ridiculously heavy and kicks like a mule. I shoot my own reloads which saves some $. Its not a CCW by any means unless you like to pretend your in an action flick. I like to think of it like a Corvette or other sports car. I wouldn't drive it everyday, but its fun to take out on the weekend

It's interesting. Most of the hate threads about this gun come from people who don't own one, have never held one, etc...
I own one in 50AE. Why? Becase I wanted it. I don't understand why people feel the need to belittle the gun and it's owners. There are people out there who collect guns that I would never buy or own. But I have never said one bad thing about their choice in guns or about them. I figure the more the better.
Just because you don't like it, that doesn't make it bad. Just different.
You have to remember the times we live in. The anti's will take anything they can. Tell me they won't point to posts about the Desert Eagle and say "See, even the gun people say there is no use for this weapon. We need to get rid of it."
Could be your personal choice of weapon next.

Everyone has different views on things. A person looking to carry all the time will say it isnt small enough and people who hate on hollywood and games for promoting isnt enough a good reason either(besides the DEAGLE part). That being said, I know a few isreali guys who would say our 1911 and glocks are TOO LIGHT and WEAK. Its just like a bodybuilder like tight shirts and guys who are into muscle cars. If you got the muscle for it, a desert eagle is a beautiful and accurate gun. I myself personally like how it looks and how heavy it is(just gives me the feeling that I'm holding a powerful PISTOL; which it is). I dont think its over-rated, magnum research in minnesota never claimed the gun to be light and meant for carry anyways. They always promoted how much power and feel its got, which comes to mind... can you name an auto thats as strong as the DE .50? I dont think so. It's definitely not over-rated.

How is it over-rated? Name an auto that shoots as strong and crazy as the DE with that accuracy? These guys that are calling it over-rated... what are you comparing it to? I dont think the gun was made to be carried anyways and I love the shear power it produces with that .50AE at such accuracy. Yea its heavy, but we're men arent we?lol I guess the P22 is the best gun hands down for being so light and small. Hollywood and games promote it because its pretty and they know it can blow up a watermelon which a 9mm wouldnt do + its entertainment.

To date myself a bit, I remember the Desert Eagle as a prop in Duke Nukem and then Tomb Raider. Way before Counterstrike

It was one of the guns that actually made me go to a gunstore for the first time as a freshly minted 21 year old after I'd seen it in movies.

I don't enjoy shooting the 50. It's just not fun for me. But, I agree that the idea that they are overrated is, in itself, overrated.

People give too much voice to counterstrike players. There are literally thousands of Desert Eagle owners who quietly go about the business of owning and loving them.

And, I do have a friend who could conceal his 50, but he was 6'6" and 305. It just disappeared into his waistband.

I just want one because Angelina Jolie (Laura Croft) is sexy, haha

I do believe that those were H&K USP Match pistols.

There should be a law requiring that *ALL* guns be offered with a gold finish and tiger stripes :D. That would be government mandated gun control I could get behind.

Ten years ago, I owned an early example of the .44 Mag DE. I recognized its inherent, uh, "limitations" -- huge unconcealable dimensions, ponderous weight, expensive ammo

I think that is funny because it wasn't too long ago I was getting gas and there was some commotion with some lady. There were cops everywhere. I right through a group of cops, even having to brush by a couple asking them to give me more room to get by them. I was wearing two Desert Eagles at the time under my jacket and none of them noticed. With the right holsters, they are concealable.

Well now you done it. After going through this thread, I went out today and bought a DE44CA (California approved .44 magnum Desert Eagle (6" barrel). I suspect this is just another adventure of mine that is more imaginable than realistic ... but, I've wanted the pistol since the 80's (actually a I've wanted a semi-auto .357 magnum). This will do just fine. :D

o_O

With Heller Oral's coming around I promptly forgot about this post. Glad I came back to it. A lot of information for me to roll over here. =D

Just wanted to mention one thing,
Zundfolge, if you think counterstrike players saying "Deagle" is annoying, imagine my chagrin at listening to CoD4 players call grenades "Nades" as in "nadefest". I still kind of laugh when they call the 203 attachment the "noob tube" though...
Grenades are commonly called "nades" due to the limitations of having to type out long responses in a FTS. Basicly for the same reasons other common words are so maddeningly shortened up, such as u for you, r for are, and of course nub for new player (new player=newby=newb=noob=nub). This is all pretty old stuff for ya.
As for the M203 being referred to as the noobtube, consider that with the blast radius of the typical in game grenade, combined with the rate of fire, along with the range/accuracy, provides a fairly high kill/death ratio early on in a players career. Later on they will learn to avoid wide open areas and will experience extreme difficulties firing said weapon in close quarter combat, they will move away from using it as a preferred way to pad their stats. Thus the only folks you see using it are constantly are "nubs".

Holy crap, I just established myself as a FTS junkie and have precluded myself from ever being taken seriously on this forum. :uhoh:

ETA: Oh and Grats Hook ... hope ya enjoy it. =D

I love the desert eagle. They are a little expensive for my wallet in both firearm and ammo categories but I would love to have one. Have shot one a few times and it is possibly one of the more accurate handguns I have ever shot. The recoil is fun and feeling that "THUMP" in your chest is cool. Plus it is a head turner at the shooting range... especially the first time you pull the trigger and notice all the giraffes leaning their heads back to see what the heck it was... lol

Yup the DE is heavy, expensive, well made and very accurate ... did I say heavy ? While it is only 1-1/4 pounds heavier than my S&W 629, it is big and heavy ... especially for folks with petite hands.

Over rated ? I think not. I have the DE 44 and bought the .357 magnum kit to go with it. I've just begun to shoot it.

My 1st observation is that it is not over rated. It is a well made, accurate, exensive and heavy pistol, that will not replace my S&W 3913TSW ... but then I did not buy it for that. I bought it to replace a rifle when I go hunting, and I think it will do that just fine.

I've shot a group of commercial loads that I use and all except the 110 grain JHP rounds did just fine in .357. I still need to develop a few hand loads, but I figure this will follow.

I went out today and tried a few hand loads in .44 magnum. 27.0 grains of W296 proved to be a BIG BOOMER with 200 grain Gold Dot Hollow points and I went through 50 rounds without a misfire.

On the other hand, my 300 grain Noslers loaded with 14.8 grains of 2400 turned out to be a really soft load. The round fired, ejected the shell, but failed to load a new round from the magazine. I'll need to work up a little on that bullet.

Is the DE over rated ? at this point I'll say no way. It is fine shooting pistol. I'll even use it on the night stand ... just won't carry it, except out in the field when I am hunting ... it sure beats a 7-1/2 pound carbine, or 8 pound rifle.

Hey all,

I'm Lior, from Israel, the country that manufacture this toy :D

DE 0.50AE The best handgun I ever had it terms of fire power, it's very accurate, it built so good that it will survive an atomic attack :D It's the best value for money, if you want a gun for fun... if you want something to carry, buy a Glock :barf:

Rembrandt, can you specify the exact type/model of that Harris Bipod that you have? After seeing yours, I'm gonna buy one too...

This is my 0.50AE with a Leupold scope:

Welcome Lior. My hat is off to you ... .44 magnum is as high as I want to go, as I hear the .50 AE is 60% more in recoil than the .44 magnum. I am happy with the .44 magnum in the DE presently. I see no reason to ruin a good thing.

Actually I had the .44 magnum until recently... it's truly amazing, but I wanted the 0.50AE, with no logical reason but pure power fun :D

how is the reliability in the 44 mag versions???

i only ask because it is a rimmed cartridge and i am having a hard time imagining how they fit in the magaziines...

I have a 44 mag D. E. and love it. I use it for whitetail out to 100 yards. If I do my part, it'll place 8 rounds into one single hole out to 100 yards. A rather large and ragged hole, but a single hole none the less. I have two holsters for it. One concealment and one oversized custom leather cross chest for when the D. E. is wearing it's Burris. It's way, way easier carrying than totting around a 12 gauge. Easier shooting and more fun to shoot than a 12 gauge with slugs too. For certain hunting, a D.E. is very hard to beat.

The rimmed shells feed reliably. They're rock solid. Manufacturers have been building wadcutter/bulleye automatics for many years.

The recoil is very, very tame. All that weight and the gas operation takes a great deal of the recoil out of the 44 mag and 50 cal. My 8 in Colt Anaconda 44 mag shooting 300 gr @ 1300 fps kicks much harder, not to mention my handcannons.
