Were the first generation Detective Specials available in nickel plated finish?

Any idea of the born on date for a Detective Special with this serial number.... 2936XX ?

What's commonly called the "First Generation" Detective Special was made from 1927 to about 1946.
These were available in bright nickel.

2936XX shows as a Police Positive Special NOT as a Colt Detective Special, made in 1924.
The Detective Special and the Police Positive Special shared serial numbers, and the numbers for 1924 ran from 283000 to 308999.

Unfortunately, this is about three years BEFORE the Detective Special was introduced in 1927. The first Detective Special numbers were in the 331000 range.

It sounds like you may have a Police Positive Special that's been re-barreled with a Detective Special barrel.
