I'm a CA resident w/ a C&R FFL, currently visiting the Dallas area.

I bring up the CA resident part because CA law pretty much neuters my FFL when it comes to buying handguns. I can walk into a gun store in Texas with a copy of my FFL and walk out with a pistol, and take that pistol back to California with me, but the only way I can order the pistol is to have it shipped to a dealer.

So I'm looking for interesting gun shops that have C&R guns. I found one shop in this area, Jackson Armory, that had a bunch of nice stuff. Some of it really nice. But I didn't buy any of the the nice stuff -- I bough a Nagant revolver. I've wanted one for the novelty factor...and it was probably the cheapest gun in the store by a mile.

Later this month or next month I'll be visiting Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and West Texas, and would be interested in shops in those areas as well.

So, any tips?

I'll definitely be swinging past that shop... what sucks about them is the $30 premium they charge for buying in store. As in the same gun will be $149 for "mail order" and $179 for in-store purchase... and that's for a gun Centerfire sells for $129. :(

How about these shops?
DFW Arms in Grand Prairie
Ray's Hardware and Sporting Goods in Dallas

Anything C&R related in either of them?

Yeah, Ray's has more collector and high-end stuff, but it's like making a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Everybody needs to go to Ray's at least once.

Mike's Gun Room on Greenville at Main/Beltline in Richardson is a little hole in the wall shop, but he has interesting things from time to time. It's back by the police station in a little low gray brick building between a doll shop and a barber shop.

Further up Greenville, where it becomes Avenue K in Plano is The Bullet Trap and further north is Gun Masters. Both have a few interesting things from time to time, and BT is also an indoor rental range.

Regards,
Rabbit.

Well, collector stuff isn't bad. :) Even if I can't afford it.

I have a fondness for antiques... I've even got the requisite selection of "affordable" antiques: S&Ws 1-1/2, S&W new departure, Webley, French 1892 Ordinance Revolver, and a few others. No problem buying them in CA even before I had my C&R. I'd love to get my hands on a S&W Model 3 and a few similar.... but my budget doesn't allow it yet. :( Is that the sort of collector stuff you are talking about, or are we talking $30K rifles and the like?
