Received a .45 Auto pistol as a gift. Left side has DGFM (FMAP) stamped on it. Right side has Policia La Provincia De Buenos Aires. Serial Number is 73883. Looking to find more information on this gun, like when was it produced? I know its a 1927 model 1911-A1 clone, produced by Colt trained workers in Argentina. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like Buenos Aires police issue (I'm such a master of the obvious), nice pistol and nice gift! Welcome EDocB1.

Really good link DoubleTap.

DGFM = Direccion General de Fabricaciones Militares (General Agency for Military Manufacture)
FMAP = Fabrica Militar de Armas Portatiles (Military Small Arms Factory)

Guns thus marked were made in Argentina on Colt machinery, not by Colt on contract.
