30-06 Lover, I didn't intend to create any controversy here. I didn't even know that "gyped" referred to "gypsy".

And if you are a gypsy, and my language have offended you, I apologize. If you not a gypsy, my apology still stands because I didn't know that "gyped" carried a derogatory connotation. And plus, I cannot change the title of this thread because the forum does not allow me to.

Having said that, you have to relax...! Maybe watch a movie, fire a few rounds... or campaign for the ACLU if you must, because obviously you have got too much time on your hand to interpret something like this in a thread obviously intended to address an issue concerning my M1A.

Edit: 30-06 Lover, the Moderator was alerted by me to address this "controversy" stirred up by you, and I have asked him to change "gyped" to "cheated". And with that, I hope you are satisfied. And since you have nothing to contribute to my questions concerning M1A, perhaps silence better suits you in this thread. Unless of course, you have more to say on this issue, and in which case, please express yourself here in the "legal and politics forum, because people who visits this thread concerning M1A has no interest in dignifying your comments any further:

Thank you.

Retro,

If it shoots well and you are happy with it as a gun, then I would say you did ok. Could you have picked a similar gun up a little cheaper? Maybe, but you purchased this one and it will be ok. Chalk it up to a lesson learned.

30-06 lover,

You forgot to add I got "white deviled", "honkeyed" or "crackered". Seriously, gyped is a common term that is not intended to offend anyone. If you are uber sensitive I guess you could be highly offended by anything. Remember, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me." I learned that in pre-school. Too bad more people don't remember it.

I would certainly say that you payed a little much for the rifle. If I were you I would probably return the rifle if I felt that I was lied to, intentionally or not. If you go in there with documented information that retorts what they claimed, I'm would find it terribly difficult for them to deny you your money back.

As far as the gyped thing, can we please put aside the PC nonsense in "real" adult discussion. The attempt was not to be offensive so perhaps people (30-06 lover) should not be soo sensitive. There is no right that says one cannot or should not be offended, so please accept this reality of life and move on.

Problem solved. I called the store today, and the owner was very nice and quick to admit that there was a miscommunication on their part, and they offered me free warranty at their gunsmith store if SA does not honor any warranty due to second hand ownership, and a $100 discount toward another gun that I have ordered below the MSRP price.

I did find out that those leupold mounts on the rifle costed around $60, and the steel SA railmout worth about $150, and scope is about $100 although it is not the greatest scope. So with that and the $100 discount, the rifle costed me around $1200 + tax, which was acceptable since the gun was in such great condition. (knocking on wood, I will have to shoot it next week to find out).

So things do work out. And I appreciate all your inputs. Lessons learned.

You may want to get a lace on cheek rest before you go shooting. The scope is pretty high and getting a good cheek weld without the rest is pretty difficult.

First let me apologize for leading the thread into other places in which it was not intended. This will be my last post in this particular thread.

A couple of people have told me to relax or not be so serious. Always good advise, but not needed here. I'm not mad or offend at all. :) Sorry if I sounded differently than I intended. The reason I did bring it up was to simply inform people that the term is in fact a slur. Take care and enjoy your rifle.

AZredhawk44- Did you buy your scout recently at that price? If so where? That seems better than most prices I've seen.

RobT2K:

I got it at Scottsdale Gun Club. They normally stock at least 3 or 4 to choose from... synthetic or wood, SOCOM, Scout, Standard, National Match. Depends on who did the ordering and what is selling well.

It's a beautiful showroom with a 30-something lane firing range built in that allows for full auto rental and firing, of any cartridge. Even 50BMG. But somehow the prices are still very competitive.
