I took my sigma to the range today and fired off about 100 rounds. On two of them the bullet fed normally but when I pulled the trigger and nothing happed no click or any thing. I cycled the slide and ejected that bullet and it would work fine after that. Do you think I just limp wristed it or is there something wrong with my gun that needs to be looked at. (It was 100+ degrees, in the sun and I was nursing a pretty bad hangover)

If you didn't even get a click (of the trigger releasing to fire the shot), the trigger mechanism may be failing to reset after the previous round fired and the slide returned forward. If so, the gun needs to be taken out of service so it can be repaired. It may be something as simple as a broken spring, or something more.

Well Iv been wanting to get a new pistol so maybe now I can justify it. Got to have something while this ones in the shop. :)

The next time it happens, Push the slide forward, if goes into battery, then fires, maybe, could just be dirty.
That is another possibility. If the slide fails to return fully forward (into "battery"), a trigger disconnect mechanism will activate and the gun will not fire.

The slide did go back into full battery. I clean my guns after every time that I fire them or even think about firing it. If I dont fire it for over a month (very rare) I will pull it out and clean it and re-oil it.

Some time ago a buddy of mine was shooting my high power and the gun would work bad for him. I would take it and it would work fine for me. I would tell him that he was limpwristing it.
No way he would say I was taught to shoot in the army I know what I am doing.
The next time we went shooting I brought a ace bandage with.
I put the ace bandage on his wrist, WOW the gun worked evey time.
Wrap your wrist like a boxer and see what happens.

I have shot this gun a ton of times before and never had a problem but like I said earlyer there were other contributing factors that may have caused me to limpwrist it. Im gonna try and get to the indoor range this weekend and try it again.

Also, consider break in and cheap ammo.

Now that you've put 100 rounds through it, try it with a mag or two of good ammo. Something you would rely on for self defense, like Federal Hydra Shok , Speer Lawman, etc.

I'm betting on no failures.

Smaug this is not a new gun to me I have had it for about 3 years now and have put over 1000 rounds through it so I kinda dont think its a break in problem. This is just the first time that Iv had a problem. I was using speer lawman 180 gr TMJ. This is the first time I have ever shot this ammo. I usually use monarch for the range. I do keep the federal for hd/sd though. Before now I have shot super cheap ammo (cant remember what brand). An old buddy of mine got about 500 rounds for about 50 bucks. My pistol had no problems with it while his stovepiped at least once a mag.

Not sure what limpwristing (or ammo) has to do with a pistol cycling a fresh round, returning to full battery, but not resetting the trigger.

If the trigger isn't resetting, I'd check the disconnector for debris or damage. And I'd check that the trigger return spring is doing its job with enough force.

GLOOB- I kinda thought the same. I have shot a lot but have never done any kind of repair or diag on guns. I know there is no debris as i stated above I clean my guns religiously. How do i check the disconnector and return spring? Its a s&w sigma 40ve by the way.

Full strip detailed cleaning is where I would start, remove every part from the gun and clean the parts and the gun. Do you just field clean the gun? Have you done a full detailed strip cleaning on the gun before? Afterevery thing has Been cleaned and I mean everything and all the springs and parts have been inspected go to the range and see if she acts up again. Just my 2cents

Tired, hung over, not as dilligent, dragging your support thumb on the slide, causing it to fail to return all the way into battery, no click.

Inspect it, make sure there are no problems. While you are at it, clean it and lube it. Then take it out again and shoot it.

Are you shooting factory? AL headspace at the mouth making factory rounds that slipped by quality control a possible cause. An over crimped case, slightly buldged mouth, or maybe one or two that are slightly to long from the head to mouth.

How do i check the disconnector and return spring? Its a s&w sigma 40ve by the way.
Sorry, not familiar with this gun. I'd start by looking for a parts diagram and then I'd look on youtube to see if anyone has filmed a detail strip.
