...just to soften any traders remorse with regards to my recent trade. Anyone care to offer an opinion on my trade for a Polytech M14 S(with about 250$ worth of CTD accessories) a ZERO failure firearm, for a Springfield SAR8 (steel, made in greece) with box and extra mags. I think this time I came out on top. Looking for opinions from a financial standpoint as well as quality.

If you like it I love it. However, I dont trade or sell, as a general rule I just buy more. Seriously though, I think you did good both are fine weapons.

Hopefully this is not true of yours.

No, it isn't. There were two version of the SAR-8, one an excellent licensed-built H&K-91 made in the Greece (the one the OP has), and the other a weird, aluminum-receivered mongrel with a poor reputation for durability (the one you had).

As for the trade the OP made, I think you may have come out a little ahead, depending on how much you had in the Poly-Tech. Of course, as pointed out, the guns have changed hands already.

Not trying to put you down by any means for the trade, just merely telling you the problem I had with the firearm. If it works, great! If you have the same problem I had, at least you know Springfield can take care of your properly

Again, you didn't have the same version of that gun as he does. Yours was an entirely different design made in the U.S. from an aluminum receiver and a parts kit. His is a licensed built, steel-receivered gun of the same quality as, and entirely interchangeable with, the H&K-91/G3.

It is not clear in your post which rifle you gave up and which one you ended up with.

I think the SAR-8 is worth more.

However, I would rather shoot the M14. Either way, if you like the rifle you ended up with, its all gravy.

i would have kept the m14 clone & i have heard they have great forged receivers.

Having owned both, out of your choices, I would have kept your M14S and have sent it off to Warbird to have him do his magic. I find the M1A variant to feel better in my hands.
