I bought a Colt 6920 in late April. The price tag that I paid was $1490. I thought it was a good deal because I saw them at 2 gun shows selling for $1800. Now I see people on forums saying they should be around $1200 -$1300. I'm starting to feel some buyer's remorse. Anybody else have this problem?

Who cares if you wanted it and are going to have it for years then what is a couple hundred dollars? I've got some good deals and paid too much it all balances out in the end. Congrats on the fine rifle.

They are going for lower than 1500 right now, but there is no way you could have known that at the time. In late April, 1490 really was a good price. It's a little late now though, don't fret. Just enjoy shooting the **** out out of it.

I've had "buyer's remorse" after all my purchases. Then I get it to the range and all that "remorse" goes away.

From what I've seen in my limited gun show experiences prices are always inflated at gun shows, especially recently.

For paying over $1,000 I don't think I'd lose much sleep over $100-200 really and all the Colt fanboys say that Colt products retain value better than any "copies" from competitors. Give it a year or two and prices are likely going to be at or beyond what you paid.

In mid April $1490 was a decent price on a 6920. Every gun that you could find from most people was sky high. Prices are going down a bit now from record highs. So $1300 would be more reasonable.

When you bought it it was probably a good deal in your area. Today, It is not a good deal. At some point, it will be a good deal again. Unless you need to dump it for cash, you'll be fine. Shoot it, enjoy it, and don't sweat it. Somebody will always have it cheaper.

A lot of people paid stoooopid money for their guns, so in the cosmic balance of the universe, you're OK.

I think their is going to be a lot of people who bought ARs in general not just Colt from November 08 thru May 09 in panic buying who will soon realized they payed hundreds to much. Not much you can do about it now might as well forget about it and enjoy the new rifle.

It may have been a good deal at the time, not so much now.

If you bought it as a short term investment you did poorly. If you bought it as a gun to shoot you didn't do too bad; you got a great rifle at a slightly high price. If you bought it as a long term investment only time will tell.

If it makes you feel better I saw double stars and dpms rifles going for $1800+ not too many months ago, so you did a lot better than those guys.

Over the next few months, we will probably see a flooded "used" market after everybody who paid ridiculous prices realizes they can't afford their new toys.

I bought this gun to keep and shoot for the rest of my life. I also want to pass it down to my children and perhaps grandchildren. Thanks for the input. It makes me feel a little better about spending that much money.

You didn't do terrible...go shoot it and enjoy it- you brought a fine AR-15.

A buddy of mine paid $2200 for a CMMG with a cheap set of crap UTG rails and a POS Eotech knockoff. Now, that's getting ripped off!

I know at gun shows around here Jan-Feb, Colt 6920's where flying off the tables at $1800 each.

I bought a new one in March from a dealer on another board for $1250.

I expect the price on these to fluctuate wildly over the next few years. You can rest assured there will probably be several runs on guns durning the Obama administration, and one will be for real. Obama will get to gun control, he just has not yet.

I don't care what you buy, from a pack of gum to a colony on Mars, there will be someone come along afterwards and tell you "I know where you could have got that cheaper." It never fails.

Dont worry about it. Just enjoy your new rifle.

i know this is a rifle forum, BUT...i got stung on the first 1911 i ever bought. it also was a colt. the store i got it from was a well known overprice vendor. (to all but a newby like i was) a pretty, brandidy new combat commander in satin nickle for over 210 american inflationary notes.....

DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!

ten years downstream, you'll think about the good ole days when they only cost that little.

I too have purchase guns that after a bit I thought maybe I paid too much. I had a guy tell me something that has a lot of truth to it:
"It's not whether you paid too much, it's did you pay it too soon." When I repeat that bit of wisdom to myself, I always feel better.

i wouldn't worry too much about it. yes, you may have overpaid compared to what you would have found if you waited a few months. but you have a genuine colt AR, which will hold its value better than competitors and is generally considered the cream of the crop by most AR lovers. enjoy your excellent rifle.

for future reference, don't use gun shows as your benchmark price. there are sometimes deals to be found at guns shows, but i see a whole lot more vendors who are trying to lure uninformed buyers into paying more than they should. in other words, that $1800 was meant to snare a panic buyer. that doesn't make it market value.

for a decent idea of market value, log onto gunbroker or auction arms and look at the completed auctions. only consider those that actually sold, rather than ones where no one bid at the seller's desired price. the average of auctions that actually sold will give you a decent idea of what you should expect to pay.

Why worry you bought a Colt. You wanted a Colt and you bought one. Since january I have seen people paying $$hundreds more$$ for "handmade AR's"" meaning Joe in his garage in Orlando or Nevada, that show up at a gun show. What you paid, in my humble opinion, is an adequate price for a quality rifle. What your buddy's friend paid is like the fish story, the price/size of the fish/rifle changes depending on how much they got ripped off, and how embarrassed/proud they are of the deal.
Enjoy it, I am enjoying mine and like a fellow member told me, "The day you want to sell it, you do not have to say how much it is like a Colt..""

What really matters: Do you like your rifle?

We have all overpaid for something at some time :fire: and we all have passed up deals that we later regretted :(.

But if you really like your rifle, that is all that matters. :D

I bought a like new, but used, Colt HBar during the panic in January. I think I paid $1200. Did I overpay? Yes, I think so. Was it worth it to me, at the time? You bet your sweet bippy it was. It is a great little rifle, it is a Colt, and I finally have a damn fine AR.

We are'nt allowed to own LE 6920's up here in the PRC, but if we were I'd jump on one like a dog on a bone.

I'm not at all sure you overpaid for such a fine rifle. But even if you did, it was'nt by much, and you're well out of the panic buying rat race. Sit back, exhale, relax, and enjoy your beautiful rifle. You're entitled.

PS: Get yourself some P-Mags. You won't be sorry you did.

It's fine to overpay for something that you really want. Same goes to cars boats and houses. If you absolutely have to have it, then you probably are going to pay a little more that you could have. It is just a matter of how much time you can put in trying to get that "great deal". If you just apply the rate of pay that you get to do whatever work you normally are paid to do or used to do. You may find that spending an extra few days driving here and there, made up for what you saved on the deal. Life's too short. Now once you start looking at something like a high end home boat or car, it becomes more important to put the time in of course. I agree with one of the other gents who mentioned the prices coming down. Although gun and ammo prices may again climb because of the present administration, folks are falling on hard times. Things that can be sold may have to be sold to pay bills. That is a real problem which hasn't seen the bottom yet.

Just today I put my money down on a used LE 6920... I could not resist the price of $795.95

I probably paid more than I should have for my LMT/BCM mixmaster, but I don't regret it. I'd rather overpay a little now and have a gun in my hand instead of not getting any gun at all.
