I've never really understood why some people feel the urge to consolidate calibers -- especially when that urge takes the form of an imperative to get rid of guns that they actually like. Aside from financial concerns or plain dislike of a certain caliber, none of the reasons I've read have ever struck me as particularly compelling. Of course, I'm coming from the perspective of a handgun enthusiast rather than that of someone into firearms strictly for self-defense or for the purpose of preparing for the collapse of civilization, and so on (and even then I'm not sure that owning weapons that only fire a small few calibers makes the most sense in apocalyptic contexts). Shooting to me would be less interesting without a gun shooting .41 Mag. or 7.62x25mm or 9x18mm in the mix. My collection is still in serious need of caliber expansion, as far as I'm concerned.
