I've noticed that some of the 24/7 pistols I've seen have the letters 24/7 stamped on the slide and others have 24/7 Pro. I thought the 24/7 was a pretty new pistol. Is there already a newer version out?

The standard 24/7 is double action only (DAO). The new 24/7 pro is single action with "second strike" capabilities. This means it has a trigger much like the Glock but in case of a light primer strike, the pistol converts to double action.

Note that I personally don't think this is a good feature. If the round is bad, its best to know right away and manually eject it vs. keep pulling the trigger. No big deal either way though and the single action trigger on the 24/7 pro is better than the standard 24/7.

From their website and advertising:

"THE TAURUS MODEL 24/7 PRO IS THE ONLY PISTOL THAT AUTOMATICALLY REVERTS TO DOUBLE ACTION and with a simple trigger pull gives you a life saving double action try at firing a faulty cartridge."

Note that Taurus's statement above is a lie or at least not very well informed. The HK P2000 LEM does exactly this and was released before the 24/7 Pro. They should have done their research or simply not made this statement.

I believe the HK's LEM is partially cocked, not exactly single action, as in the Taurus 24/7 Pro, or an XD for that matter. The 24/7 Pro's operating system is more like HK's variant 1, with offer cocked and locked carry just like the 24/7 Pro. The same SA/DA operating system has been on the CZ-75 since, of course, 1975...
