When you are shooting a semi-auto pistol, what difference [if any, noticeable] in sound to the shooter will there be between 115gr and subsonic 147gr?

Cute, guys.

I find the 115 gr to have an unpleasant "Crack!" report, even through muffs and a sharp recoil.
My 147s have less report and moderate recoil.

That "crack" is likely the sonic boom. Something you don't get with 147s.

There is a measurable, real difference. Whether it matters to someone is kind of subjective and personal. But it's taken as a given among competitive USPSA/IPSC shooter that 124's-and-up are preferable for combined accuracy and speed (where recoil control is a major factor).

Between the two, with protection on?

Can't say as I notice much difference in sound, certainly in recoil sure.

Yes, with ear plugs/muffs. More interested in how much sound/blast to the shooter. Thanks.

I haven't noticed much difference in the report of 115 grain versus 124 grain versus 147 grain 9 mm Luger. Can't say that I have really thought about it. Anything that goes supersonic is going to make that crack sound, even 22lr. I guess I don't find that too unpleasant.
