I am in the market for a Ruger Redhawk in 44 Mag. Can anyone tell me the difference in a regular Redhawk and a Super Redhawk? I went to the Ruger website but it wasn't working. I did a search here but couldn't find anything else either.
TIA

Not an expert, but I think the Super RH has a separate spring for the trigger and one for the hammer, whereas the RH has just one spring for both.

I have a 4" RH and a 7.5" SRH in .44 mag and the latter has a better trigger, especially in cocking for SA.

BTW they are both built like a tank.

The Super Redhawk is much bigger in the frame and has a heavier barrel than the Redhawk. Its interanl mechanism is more like the GP 100. Look it like this the Super Redhawk is the only 6 shot revolver capable of firing the 454 Casull. for more info Google Super Redhawk or you might want to try Wikipedia for more info.

The Super Redhawk has a beefier frame. It has an extra 2 1/2" of frame that surrounds the first 2 1/2" of barrel. It has the scope ring cut outs, except for the SRH Alaskan, which has the barrel cut off and crowned at the end of the frame extension, with no scope ring cut outs.
The SRH has a stud grip frame like the GP100, and in fact the grips can be interchanged with the GP100 grip.
The SRH has one hammer spring, and separate trigger springs, like the GP100, making IMO a much lighter smoother trigger pull. Actually to me it feels lighter then my SP101.
The Redhawk has a full frame grip. using two grip panels. No frame extension to the barrel. Has a single hammer spring that does everything, making for stiffer trigger pull.
You can't go wrong with either built like tanks Rugers. I owned a .44mag Redhawk, but didn't like the trigger pull, and the grip.
I now own a SRH Alaskan, in .44 mag. I much prefer the grip, and trigger pull. and I think there is more grip options with the SRH.
Right now I have a GP100 compact grip on it for CCW.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have decided on what you said to go with the SRH. I like Rugers because they are built like tanks. I own 5 already., 1- SP101 and 2 Blackhawks and two 22's. I will go to my dealers and start looking and see what I can find.

i went lookin' and...

rrarms.com has a super redhawk, stainless, .44 mag, 7.5" for $690.25. there are others in different calibers, etc. does this help?

That's the SRH I have and it's great. I ordered the Hogue one piece cushioned grips for it. Helps with the recoil.

The Redhawk is the huge one, and the Super Redhawk is the huger one.

In all seriousness, these things are really big.

The Super Redhawk has the shape that looks like a ray gun, which I personally don't care for, but it's got separate hammer and trigger springs, and the grip-frame gives you a bunch of options. It'd be nice if Ruger had bitten the bullet and started to make the Redhawk with the aforementioned good features of the the Super, but eh, such is life.

Redhawks are awesome creatures, while Super Redhawks just don't flic my bic. Just MHO of course. I love the old Redhawks. They fit my hand great. Dampen recoil. I love the old grips vs the new ones. The Super Redhawks are just too big for my taste.
