Just noticed on Ruger's website that the Redhawks are gone! (Super Redhawks still there).

Just when I get to a point in life where I have some expendable income, they kill off the guns I'm interested in.

Sorry if this has been covered, but I didn't find anything in a search.

New guns are still in the pipeline. Best you move fast though. Prices will rise fast now. Soon you will be @ the mercy of gunbroker auctions.

That Super Redhawk gets my award for ugliest gun. I guess I will hang onto my Redhawk .45 Colt.

Form follows function. While not the most esthetically pleasing firearm ever produced, my SRH borders on boringly accurate, my RH....pretty, no doubt, but not nearly as accurate.

Dohp!. I've been waiting for the (promised?) stainless Redhawk in 45 Colt with the 5.5 inch barrel. I guess now it's not going to happen.

I agree that the Super Redhawks get the ugliest gun award. I've always loved the look of the Redhawks though. If I was ready to diversify into .44 mag, that's probably the gun I would get.

Super Redhawks feel too muzzle heavy for me.
Plus, they are nearly as ugly as a Glock or HiPoint.

Rumor on the Ruger forum is that the Redhawk will be back - production lines in the new plant in Carolina aren't running yet, and production is being shifted to models with higher sales volumes. At least, I am hoping that they will be back - I'd like to have one in stainless, 4" barrel, and 45 Colt myself!

I have a scoped, 9.5" Super Redhawk, that is named "Brunnhilde". You are correct about being ugly, that is why I named it, "Brunnhilde". But, she will show off at the range.

Reds are not gone.
Their CEO says they have a lot of catching up to do on it in moving production to the new plant.

Temporarily suspended is all.

I'd love to have a (4") Redhawk with the GP100/SRH grip frame.
Maybe while production is out...?
Doubt it, though.

Yes! Wouldn't that be nice?

I have a 4" stainless .44 Redhawk, and the grip frame is my only complaint. It came with a horrible Hogue hard rubber monogrip with finger grooves that put the exposed steel backstrap squarely against my thumb joint. I eventually traded out the Hogues for some stock wood grips from Ruger. Those were too fat at the base, so I reshaped them. I can finally get the backstrap into the meat of my palm, but just barely, and it is still an uncomfortable reach to the trigger. I do not have this problem with my GP100, SP101, or my friend's Super Redhawk Alaskan. The Redhawk grip frame just doesn't fit me well.

If they reduced the trigger reach, and shaped the grip frame more like the Super Redhawk, I would be all over it!

I'll probably hang on to my Redhawk forever, since it was the platform that "forced" me into reloading, and it produces more velocity from it's 4.2" barrel than my Super Blackhawk does with it's 4.625" barrel, with identical loads.

I have wanted one for years....but ya just can't find them anywhere, anymore. Guess I will just have to stick to my Blackhawks and SBH.

This.

Ruger is so far behind on orders for other guns they are temporarily stopping production. They will be back.

Always looked less comfortable to shoot than the the Super Redhawk. Thats why I went with a SRH. But to each his own. They will become collectable now if you have one.

I've been saying that for years now. I can't imagine why they didn't change that over YEARS ago. They've been doing the grip stud thing since the 1980s when the GP first came out. Redhawk, being a .44mag/.45LC revolver, which means potential for big recoil, would be a perfect candidate for this.

That is some sad news for sure! Glad I got my 4" 44 mag. Who knows though. Their red label shotgun disappeared of the website for a while. But now I see they have brought it back, revamped. Hopefully we'll see the Redhawk again. Too good of a revolver IMO to go away.

Huh? There are ten on Gunbroker right now just on the first page of listings.

I got mine there last spring for $515. Maybe prices will be up a bit while they're not available new...

Redhawk is fine for me, and I'm no tuffy. I first shot a .44 Mag from a Blackhawk or SBH and hated it. Years later, I shot a Redhawk and was immediately in the market for one.

I don't shoot very often, and I typically put a half-dozen cylinders through it at a time. If I had the chance to shoot a couple hundred rounds a week, I might have a different experience (or some interesting bone spurs on my right thumb?)

The smooth wooden grips work for me. I don't live where it's hot and humid, though.

I have wished for years they would make Super RedHawks in 4" or 5" configuration, preferably without the frame extension or with a more GP100-like contour. As a past or present owner of an SP101, GP100, Redhawk, Super RedHawk, and Super Redhawk Alaskan, the Redhawk definitely has the worst trigger of the bunch with maybe the SP101 not far behind. The Redhawk also has the most painful grip for heavy recoil, at least for my hand. I won't shed a tear when they are gone. I think they stand in the way of the gun they should be making.
