At home, posting on THR instead of working.
Where I reside, an O/U shotgun costs more than twice the price of a SxS shotgun. Based on price alone, it would seem rational for me to buy a SxS shotgun for the purpose of busting clays.

The only problem is that based on the opinion of the gun shop owner, he says that the wooden foregrip on the BRNO SxS shotguns (the only brand of SxS that he sells) are not large enough. Hence, when one holds the shotgun, the fingers of the supporting hand will come into contact with the barrel. After 25 shells or more, this could become a problem as the barrel becomes REAL HOT and it becomes a struggle to hold onto the gun when shooting.

So, for all you SxS owners out there, is the above problem something that you guys encounter? How do you guys overcome this?

wow- a question I can answer...!
1. yes, the barrels get hot
2. you are supposed to hold the barrels, not the tiny splinter forend
3. two solutions are used- a glove, or slip on barrel sleeve. i have both. and sort of prefer the slip on sleeve since it looks cool and I do not like gloves much. go to Galazan/csmc website to buy the sleeve, or kevin's or any other higher end shotgun dealer who sells accessories. gloves are also okay.
4. and remember, shooting a sxs is quite different than an ou or semi. the sxs shoots lower, so you must cover the target, not float it above the rib! takes some practice.
good luck!
God Bless

Yes, the barrels get hot.
You aren't supposed to death grip it.
just cradle it. my hands never touch the barrels (I know, different than above)
SxS's tend to weigh much less, they tend to be more pointing, you need to keep swinging.
and pre-mounting a SxS just never works for me. I have to shoot low gun with a SxS and it just snaps up for me.
a SxS will not take the pounding of a O/U, they just aren't built for it.
But, oh well, I shoot the snot out of my SxS's (or I used to before we moved to Nannook of the north, 6 straight weekends it's going to snow arrrggghhh)

The slip-on hand guards are widely available, like so: http://www.jeffsoutfitters.com/store.aspx?panel=3&categoryid=73&ProductID=161
