Dillenger Gang Weapons

Check out this Picture. It's a pic of the Dillenger Gang's weapons that I found on the 'net. Not sure who to credit, as it was originally taken decades ago, obviously.

I do have some info about it. Note one odd-looking 1911; it's a .38 Super, with Thompson fore-grip and extended magazine, that was converted to fire full-auto.

What is the cool looking rifle with the detachable box mag?

What I would like to look at (ok, well, HAVE) is Bonnie Parker's BAR!

I'd bet Bonnie Parker's BAR is either still in the property room in the Dallas County DA's office or found its way into the stash of one of the Dallas Sheriffs, maybe the Texas Rangers. I've not been to the Ranger Museum in Waco in some time, and it's possibly there.

I doubt it stayed behind in Louisiana. The car was trucked to Dallas with the bodies still inside the day of the ambush.

Those are old Winchester SLRs. Straight blowback with a heavy breechblock. They were chambered for fairly anemic cartridges.

I believe – and I certainly could be wrong – that picture is from the old FBI museum, located in the then-FBI headquarters in the Justice Department building in DC.

The severly chopped A-5 is just too cool.

Night, the rifles (one pointed up, one pointed down) are Winchester M1905/07/10s. I cannot tell the difference between the 3 variants.

The '05 was in .32 Win SL and .35 Win. SL.
The '07 was in .351 Win. SL.
The '10 (which my grandfather carried) was a .401 Win. SL.

RWK, are you certain this is not a display at the Dillinger Museum in Nashville, Indiana???

There is an awesome collection of old gang weapons in the Indiana State Police Museum in Indy. It includes some Dillinger weapons as well as other gangs from the 30's.

They Cody Museum in Cody, WY has a very similar 1911. Theirs is apparently an FBI one, and it also has a front grip and a full-auto selector switch.
