That knurled nut on top of the primer feed tube needs to be only lightly tightened. I mean just barely. Snug it too tight and you’ll have primers flipping or not feeding at all.

That alone will solve 90% of primer feeding issues. 9% is a dirty press. Since nothing is ever 100% I’ll leave the last 1% to design, defects or gremlins

I keep mine so loose the only thing that keeps them from further backing off is the low primer alarm. Not even two fingers tight. Took me a few years to figure that out but is the key to primer system happiness on the SD, 550 and 1050 (the new 750 too I would suspect). Doesn’t matter on the 650 but your not likely to distort the brass tip on it but I still keep them loose out of habit.

I had no input as I had never had a flipped primer in probably 50k rounds. I wondered what things may cause it and since this was brought up I can attest that the primer feed tube knurled cap on my 650 is loose at best. The primer low warning before is attached to it and it can wiggle side to side along with the knurled cap. Never even thought about it. Good info for that one day I decide to torque it down when changing primer sizes

Sorry i have not gotten back with anyone on this thread I was in the hospital and recovery from a minor stroke.

My Dillon 650 is great when it works it will pump them out one after another. But I've had issues with flipped primers, crushed primers, upside down primers etc. I've called dillon numerous times and Yes I can send it back to them but thats expensive also. I've gotten many new parts from them and followed their instructions to the T. I've taken it apart so many times I could do it in my sleep. Having said all this I'm not necessarily looking to buy the 750 but I have the 550 and have had very few issues with it. I did upgrade to the plate and roller bearing on the 550 which did make a huge difference on it.

Mainly i figured if the 550 run so well and the 650 has been, for me, a headache that maybe the 750 would be the answer. I don't have a bullet feed or check die so that's not a problem for me. I was just looking to see if anyone has had issues with the 750 or if they are happy with it.

I do appreciate all the feedback,
Gary

Any one have a comment about the New Dillon 750 I'm thinking of selling my 650 and getting the 750. I've had a lot of problems with the primer system on my 650. I'm up for suggestions good or bad.
Thanks,
GWB
I just got a 750 a few weeks back first problem I had is the primer system. It was not fully seating primers. They sent me a new ram I installed it but havent used it yet. I switched from a hornady LNL where the priming system was horrendous. Machine seems to be made much better but still not perfect in the priming realm

I have both a LNL AP and 750 on my bench. The LNL is more flexible in how you set up the dies and can be tuned more finely...if you're into that kind of thing

Priming, on the LNL, using CCI SPP has ben flawless over several thousand rounds.

Priming on the 750 a bit more finicky. You need to just barely tighten the primer feed tube

I have a Dillon RL550B and the XL650. I have used the 550 for years as it came and generally had few if any primer problems. I did add the extended primer slide plate with the side support bearing only just recently. This eliminated any occasional primer problem. I have the 650 a few years and have had no real primer problems. I don't tighten the knurled nut the top of the primer tube on either press and I keep the primer seating area clean on both presses. I have a can of compressed air (keyboard dust cleaner) and give the area a shot of air from time to time if I see dirt or grit building up. Both systems work fine for me just as it is. I can't comment on the 750 as I don't have one and have not seen it up close. If the 750 primer system is a copy of the 550 system I would think it should work just fine.
