Dillon-Hornady Swap

Ive got 3 of the lock and loads set up. two are then new models with the ez eject and one is the old wire set up ( I bought that one used) Personaly i think ive had less problmes with the old wire set up then the new ez eject. If your loading something like 45acps or 223 on it with mixed brass the difference in thickness in the heads will give you grief with the new set up some will skip over the ejection boss and some will jam inbetween the boss and the shell plate. Ive yet to have a single round on the old style not eject. The primer feed on these is much simpler then the dillon and works great but is more suseptable to a little dirt or powder residue then the dillon and must be kept very clean to work right. The horndy powder measure is hands down better. It not only meters better buy a guy can buy extra inserts and keep them set in specific charge weights. Case feeder war definaltey has dillon as a winner at least in the 650/1050. it is a stouter and better feeding design and because most of the stuff is allready on the press it takes much less tweaking to get to run right. But if your not going to use a case feeder the hornady is much easier to use then the 650. The rotation advance also goes to dillon the dogs on the hornadys ( at least my three) require occasional tweaking to keep in time and as you use it wear and need adjustment for that too. There both decent presses and have there quirks. Thing is with the hornady when you factor in the free 1000 bullets your about getting a press for free or at least for under a 100 bucks and you cant beat that.
