guess this would be a question for fellow OCD dillon folks.... anybody washed their machine cover? it looks like a high quality tent material and i was a bit concerned the washing machine would compromise the fabric. yep.. i've checked the dillon site for washing instructions.. nada.

As an aside...we moved about 2 years ago and when i packed up my 650 I sent it to dillon for a "refurb"... it came back and I had to have a peek... all of the tubes on my powder measures were new.. cool. all the moving parts looked new, and the machine was immaculate. I was impressed by how effortless the whole experience was and sealed it all back up. fast forward 2 years... building my new bench, really excited about getting back into reloading and open the box up.. it was like Christmas all over again. I'm still amazed- IMHO the epitome of customer service and product support.

disclaimer... i own lots of reloading equipment from other manufacturers, no complaints about them- but as a business owner I recognize the effort the Dillon folks put into Customer service and applaud them for it...

cheers

This isn't exactly an answer, but is related: I cover my 550B with a pant leg from a pair of my wife's discarded p.j.'s. They're some kind of flannel and I use the other one over my Rockchucker (MECs get pillow cases ;) ). I started to get the Dillon cover but being the eternal re-cycler I had to find a use for the jammies...

That said, I would think a mild soap & water solution (Dawn, Simple Green etc) applied with a sponge or soft brush then rinsed off would be all you need. Put it over a makeshift holder & clean away.

paper or plastic?
I'll take paper, I need a dust cover for my press.

I just use the "bread wrapper" plastic cover that comes with the Sunday newspaper on my two 550's. When dirty, I chuck and replace. The Dillon covers are just too expensive.

I use pillow cases that the ruling female has deemed too old to use on the bed as a press cover on both the 550 and the 900

Covers?!!?.....we don't need no steeenking covers!!!

That prima donna Dillon can share dust with the Harley right next to it.

My wife made me a cover for my single stage from Earnhardt #3 material. I bought a Dillon cover for the Sq D (still have the single) and I with I'd have asked her to make one for that. She makes a nicer cover!

Unlike cheapskates here :neener: I bought a cover when I originally bought my press 15-years ago. Assuming yours is the same a mine, although it looks to be very sturdy, I would be concerned with the material shredding during agitation.

I'd recommend soaking it with a cleaner like Lestoil or Mr. Clean that dissolves oil and letting it air dry. No, I haven't had to clean mine yet, but I will follow my own advice when I do. :)

The leg was removed first, right? :D

My wife comes home once a month with some specialty bread from the high-priced natural food rip-off mart. For some reason their single loaf plastic bags are large enough for 6 loaves of bread, or 1 Dillon 550. So being the consummate recycler.....
