I have the Dillon 550 with the standard ball handle. I have reloaded several thousand rounds and was considering upgrading to the Roller Handle. Dillon has two: one plastic for $38.95 and one aluminum for $41.95.

Is this handle more comfortable than the ball handle? What is the difference between the plastic and aluminum handle? I think it is just the hand grip not the whole arm assemble, being plastic or aluminum?

Thanks

The lever is steel just like normal, but the handle itself is either plastic or aluminum. I've got the aluminum on my 650 and the plastic on the SL900. I like the aluminum better. IMHO, part of the better feeling that is that the handle rolls with use.

Worth it? Yes. It's not a necessity, but it's a nice upgrade if you spend enough time on the machine.

Dillon Roller Handle?

Yes it is worth it. Get the alum. handle. Also save your old ball type handle. It works well on my RCBS RockChucker single stage press. Adds on 4-5" of leverage to the RCBS press..:D

I found the roller handle on my 550 made a huge difference in making the pain in my elbow go away. You get much better leverage. For a few bucks difference, I got the aluminum one.

Thanks guys and the comment about using the ball handle on the RCBS, what a great idea!

Everyone keeps touting the aluminum roller handle. I still use the old 8ball and that's been some 18 years now. The finish is all rubbed off, and I've pressed thousands and thousands of rounds through this machine. Maybe it's time to get one and see what I've been missing? $40 is like 400 bullets. Maybe I'll just load more instead.......hmm......

I have the aluminum versions on my Dillons. I can't speak about the plastic version, but the aluminum ones are blue. So, for three bucks...
