doing multiple headstamp swaging here.

I have noticed that some of the cases meet the bottom of the plate and some don't. I can adjust the ram and tighten the nut for each headstamp or I can remove the nut and just finger adjust it so that it bottoms out.

Also my eyes may be playing tricks on me but it looks like the bottom of my primer pockets have a angle to them, one side is lower then the other. Not certain if its me or the swager.

Check to see if the primers will seat even for the headstamps that don't bottom out.

I would try to take the case that doesn't bottom out and screw the rod which holds the brass to cause the brass to move closer to the plate containing the swaging pin, this should be as close as possible while stiil allowing the rod holding the brass to freely swing up (in order to change the brass). At this setting the other brass should still be able to swing into place.

My bet is the primers will seat fine once you do this.

stgdz,

Would suggest that you resize and trim the cases (if you're not already) before using the Dillon Super Swage 600. Makes life a whole lot easier.

You might need to deburr the flash hole. Flash hole deburring tools remove the burr left on the inside of the flash hole by the brass manufacturing process and make the holes all the same size. If there is a burr on the inside of the flash hole the locator rod will hit on it which pushes the case farther toward the back-up plate (than a case without a burr) causing the swagger to smash the burr and can probably cause the primer pocket to have a angle to them because the burr will be more on one side of the flash hole.

Also from Dillon -

NOTE: Re-adjustment of the locator rod may be required when swaging brass from different manufacturers or different lots due to different case webbing.

Don,

I am sorry but I must be missing something, because I can't understand how resizing (other then to deprime) or trimming will have any effect swaging the pocket on a Dillon Super Swager. With my Dillon Super Swager I just place the case over the locater rod and flip the lever to lower the case against the back-up plate and lower the handle to swage the case. From what I understand stgdz is encountering is different web thickness across manufactures. If that is the case there is no adjustment I know of nor I have I ever encountered this problem. Please correct me if I misunderstood the problem.

Bullet responded while I was researching the nomenclature for the Super Swage components - you know the names of the parts.

I agree, I must be missing something too.

I am getting different webbing thickness across the different manufacturers.

And my brass prossesing is
1)decap resize
2)trim
3)chamfer
4)De-crimp
5)mark bottom of case

I sort my brass by headstamp first, then swag, but I am doing a between 500 and a 1000 at a time. If you just have just a few to do at a time, of mixed headstamps, that could work, but there goes the vary reason for owning the super swag.

Idano,

The SS600 is adjustable for case length (by loosening the "nut" at the end of the "shaft" and making the "shaft" which supports the case longer or shorter. If you have some cases that are longer than others, then the long cases will not fit if the SS600 is properly adjusted for the shorter cases. So, it it is important that all your cases are the same length when you use the swager. Uniform case length is accomplished by trimming to length, but you must resize the case prior to trimming, hence, resizing and trimming makes life easier with the SS600.

As usual I don’t agree. The “shaft” - locator rod "holds" the case from the inside of the case/flash hole/primer pocket. The brass length doesn’t matter. It’s the case webbing that matters. See the Quote from Dillon in post 5. In fact in Dillons instructions they don’t even mention case length -

+1 on sorting by headstamp, my experience is that web thickness varies. That means the SS600 adjustment varies with the headstamp.

The SS600 doesn't care about resized or trimmed cases.
