Hi - I'm trying to disassemble my grandfather's Kodiak 159 .22 rifle to clean away decades of gunk and am stuck. It's a semi-auto with tubular magazine. I got the trigger group out from below but can't figure out how to get the bolt (?) out as the thingie that you pull back with your finger to cycle the action is preventing it from dropping out. I've tried to gently pry it out to the side but it doesn't want to move under gentle pressure.

Any ideas how to get this apart? Thanks!

Sorry my terminology is off.

The Kodiac was also sold by Colt as the Colteer .22 autoloader.

You might try this:
http://stevespages.com/pdf/colt_colteer_.22_autoloader.pdf

Not sure it's the same same model as your 159 or not.

Seems like the bolt should drop down far enough to remove the bolt handle off the top after the trigger group is out of the way.

Otherwise, thats what GunScrubber or WD-40 spray cans are for!

Go after it with a stiff brush, dental picks, and GunScrubber or WD-40 if you can't get it apart.

If you break something, you will be SOL getting parts for it.

RC - thanks for the link and tips - mine was close enough to that one so I understood how it works and with a little wiggling and convincing it came apart. All cleaned up and oiled now, action works like it did 20 years ago. Thanks!
