I like all sorts of pistols, including the 1911 to the Glocks, XDs and they M&Ps, and CZs to HKs... but I recently got a deal on a Sig Sauer P220 Elite and love it for the weight, ergonimics, controls... Just WOW...

Had to pick up a P229 to pair it...

Theys are just fantastic...

Who else loves these?

I love my P229, but it has fallen way down the ladder of my favorites. My H&K USP 9mm currently occupies top spot. It just seems unnecessarily heavy and complicated these days when compared to polymer framed pistols.

I had a Browning BDA in .45 many years ago that could shoot as accurately as a Colt Gold Cup that I had at the time. The design and ergonomics of that gun were so good, it was easy enough to take a novice shooter starting off with a .22 semi-auto, and have them finish up with the BDA, all in the same range session.

I picked up a P-226 when they first came out but eventually I had to sell it when finances were tight. For a number of years I had a P-228 as my range gun, using it to test various 9mm. reloads I was putting together. That gun would feed absolutely anything and everything I could stuff into a magazine and never missed a beat.

Right now I have a P-229 E2, fitted with night sights and the DAK trigger. With the new grip design it feels even better in my hand than the P-226 did. The P-229 is a fantastic gun right out of the box.

I agree. I don't know of any other brand that can say, just about every human hand loves our guns. Not everyone likes 1911s, GLOCKS, XD etc... But I have never heard anyone badmouth the ergos of a Sig.

I do not like the ergos of a Sig. I find the bore axis too high. I find it thicker than a 1911, but with less capacity than a Glock 21.

it's called the signess and there is no cure. you just have to keep buying more.

SIGs are my pistol of choice bar none with the Walther PPQ and P99 AS very close behind.

I have about rented them all at my LGS and came away owning SIGs. I own 2 P229s and a P220 among other SIGs.

Congrats on your recent purchases.

Be sure to try the P226 and P228 when you get a chance but ONLY if you are first willing to part with the cash to buy them also. :D

When I let others shoot my SIGs I often hear the same reaction as you had. My Son has a CZ 75 SP01 and he has probably 2000 rounds through it. The very first time he shot my P226 he did better than he ever had with his CZ. He was pretty amazed.

Love my early West German P-220 in .45. Something happened between my early Sig and the Exeter Sig 220 I used to own. The Exeter was a dog, which is not indicative of Exeter Sigs overall.

With that said, my 220 is one of my favorites.

I love my 229 enhanced elite, but I wish I would have gotten one without the beavertail now. The beavertail really digs into my side when I have to sit in the car.

I'd better like my P-220. It's for duty carry. :uhoh:

Fact is, I do. So much in fact that I bought a P-220 of my own, then the .22 conversion.

Then I bought a P-250 for a steal. Yes, I have the Sig sickness.

Yet again.
The Sig P226 & P228/229 fall into the category of and as two of the finest combat handguns ever fielded.

I shot a 220 and 226 for the first time a few weeks ago. Damn it, I need another handgun like I need another finger! The grips seemed a big big after shooting my CZ pcr and 1911, but boy did they shoot well. I am really hoping to add a 228/229 to my collection

My 220 is a fine pistol -- but I just can't adapt to the double action/single action trigger and thus I do not shoot it well at all.
