I spent some $ (about 150) on a lighting for the safe. My safe has an outlet bulit into it. I bought a switch from Rockler for $26

Then I bought 9 LED strip lights from Menards
2- 12" LED strips for the top of the safe ($18 each)

7- 16" LED strips for the bottom and both sides of the safe ($22 each)

$150? I thought I paid alot at $67! But I have to admit the results look great. Are those LED lights linkable or did you have to run a cord to each light?

Just installed rope lights tonight. Only $10.97 for a 12' string at Home Depot.

Only 36W of lighting, but they seem to work pretty good! And, if I leave them on all the time, I don't need a Goldenrod (or a switch).

LED Strip Lights

I was reading this thread and was curious if anyone had used LED strip lights? The thin type that come off of a reel and attach with 3M tape on the back. I was pondering the idea of trying it in my safe.

It is possible to have too much light in a safe? I was trying to figure out how many LEDs per foot I should use. The LEDs strips come in a 5 meter spool with one variety putting out between 2400-3000 lumens total and another putting out 4200 to 4800 lumens. I was going to error on the side of brighter is better.

Any thoughts?

It's a well known fact that guns only multiply in the dark.

Okay, after about a month and a half experiment I can definitely say this statement is false, as mine are still multiplying with constant interior safe lighting. QED
