This is the 308 cal.Is it really a big benefit to get the fluted barrel. This model comes with the stainless barrel.I am going to order it tomorrow.I just wanted some opinions.I have already planned on how I want it with opitions.Just wondering about the fluting.I have 4 friends that have one and they did not get fluted.I do know they are very accurate! Thanks for your input!Oh! I will read all input before I order!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

That was a strong thought I had.It is a weighty gun.Does the fluting help any for accuracy.I have a remington 700 not fluted. It does good at 800yds

Most of the fluting I've seen is purley cosmetic. It can reduce weight aid in cooling depending on how deep the flutes are. It doesn't make the barrel any more stiff. I think they look good but doubt it will help performance.

i think weight is it. in /theory/ the higher surface area to mass ratio of the flutes = it would cool a bit faster, but that's getting a bit out there (unless zombie hunting at 500 yds with 20 round clips is in your future)

i ain't gonna lie to you, it looks nice too:
