I tend to like the traditional bead sights or rifle sights for that special HD shotty.
I don't have one with Ghost Ring sights. Thinking about getting one-an 870 of course.
Someone try to talk me out of ghost rings. I know that anyone can get used to just about anything as far as sights go.
thanks,

john, you have to go with what you know.:)

Requirement? In no way.

Useful addition? Yes. For me the ghost rings help with slugs and a nasty habit I had/have of looking over the weapon.

Contrary to GSC belief, the shotgun does not spit out a boulder of death which rolls across your living room. At most fighting ranges, the pattern is nice and tight. This is a very bad thing when fighting.

I prefer the bead, especially for HD use where I replace the bead w/a Meprolight tritium bead for low-light indexing.

GR sights offer a sight picture that can be just as fast as a bead, and a more precise sight picture than a bead can provide, if you adjust the gun fit so that when the gun fits with the GR sights on it.

I consider them mandatory, but I'm not you. Try a pair on a gun that fits you right, and i'm reasinably certain you'll be a believer.

I could live with just a bead. I use peep sights (GR sights without a press agent) because I hunt deer with slugs.

GRs are nice to have, but far from mandatory.
