Obama is coming to Denver to tout gun owner harassment laws. He's using Denver cops as photo props. Do these uniformed cops carry their duty guns or is it a fabric only photo op?

Just curious.

If it's like what happened in my AO the officers were disarmed and their ammo and pepper spray were impounded. I damn near got fired when I refused to do it, drew traffic duty instead. After all you don't want a grizzled old detective speaking his mind to "The One" when asked a question.

They do carry guns. But that raises an interesting question: I wonder...are sworn LEO's required to download their firearms and turn in their ammunition before being in the same room as the President?

only the lemmings bucking for a promotion would do this.

if i were asked to do so with somebody like Reagan i would opt for a suit and tie, otherwise i would graciously (for a Reaganesk president) decline to go about in uniform unarmed.

They didn't trust the Marines with their weapons, I'm doubting they'll trust the cops.

I expect they do some pretty extensive screening to boot. They certainly don't want anything like what happened in the picture below occurring to Barry.
