My first C&B revolver was a Spanish 61 Colt Navy. It was 1964 and that gun got me started in BP. Looking back it wasn't much and I wonder if the Spanish still make repro. revolvers and what are the company names?
I dont know who is still making reproductions but here is a list of Spanish makers I found trying to locate who made my cannon. Still dont know that one.
So far now I have the made in Spain gunmakers as:
Markwell Arms Co
Jukar
Ardesa
Dikar SP Spanish manufacturer; CVA
Dikar US CT Valley Arms; importer of these weapons Mfd. by Conneticut Valley
Pancho..The Spanish company that made alot of reproduction guns back in the 1960 /70`s was called Santa Barbara They are no longer in business , you can still find a few of their guns in places like Gunbroker or GunsAmerica . Good luck
While that may be true, there's always the possibility that there could be specialty gunsmiths that buy frames and/or parts that could be making customized reproduction BP revolvers, no matter what country they may happen to be located in or when.
Just look at the Clements .50 Ruger OA conversion. Who's to know if anyone else is making custom BP revolvers anywhere else in the world, whether it's now or in the past in Spain?
Sundance,....What kind of problems has your friend had with his Spanish Rem? Is it a Santa Barbara? I'm curious because I picked up an old .44cal Santa Barbara NMA . The action is smooth & tight, with 4 clicks, and the grip frame is small like the ASPs and Euroarms.
But haven't shot it yet, because the weather here is just plain lousy.
I'm curious as to others experiences with them.
There's a guy from Spain who speaks highly of them on this thread at the Firing Line Forum......
Oldelm yes it is a Santa Barbara Remmie ...the one day I was around he tried to shoot it ..he had problems with it not going off ..I figured it needed a new hammer spring but he said he had put one in ..He was talking shimming the nipples ...he said the barrel gets loose alot , might be the twist of the rifleing ...wrong way or something . It was a small frame like a EuroRemmie . Thats all I remember about it .
Sundance,...thanks for that feedback. That barrel loosening is certainly odd.
The chambers in mine measure .450", and the barrel groove dia. slugged out at .448",....so that's good.
Well, I'll have to see how mine shoots when the weather gets better.
A little late, but I'd like to add that Santa Barbara was bought by General Dynamics a couple years back.
But black powder reproductions was abandoned before that.
