I support the NRA's core mission, even though I think they are a flawed org. Of course I am a member, check out my .sig! :D

Also a member of JPFO, GOA and ACLU!

I would maybe join again if they would stop sending me the magazine and calling my house almost every day.

Always amazed by the ignorance shown by some people.

1) 12 magazines a year upsets you somehow?

2) All you have to do is ask not to receive offers and they will stop. All I get from NRA are statements and magazines. Did you ever think to just ask?
I suspect you didn't, since it's just that easy.

3)The Do Not Call list does not apply to companies or ogranizations you have agreed to do business with. By joining as a member you cannot ask for protections under the do not call. Not that you would need to since all you have to do is ask.

I'm a member of NRA, GOA, SAF, Texas State Rifle and a couple of others.

Shockingly I don't get junk mail from any of them, I simply called and asked them not to send it.

Nope. Too buddy-buddy with the GOP and Big Bidness, rather than acting as an independent organization. Whatever my feelings toward the NRA may be in other areas, I can't send money to an organization that basically just funnels support, money and advertising to Republicans.

Of course, and proud of it. "Serious" 2nd Amendment supporters realize, they have supported our Bill of Rghts. Joining other gun orgs. is also a good idea. I'm also a member of the JPFO and GOA. Proud of that too!! By the way, it's a LIE that the NRA only supports Republicans. If a former poster, was a member, he would have seen support for pro-gun politicians from BOTH parties. Ignorance may be bliss, but it isn't factual.

TexasSIGman

I do not want a crappy magazine that I never read. I want my dues to be used to buy votes.

They did stop the junk mail on request. It does not matter what I said or who I talked to they continued calling because they makes lots of money that way. I made it so hard on them that they almost never call anymore.

Yes and 2nd Amendment Task Force. Been on Elko Friends of NRA committe for 9 years, 8 as treasurer and a event sponsor. We mananage to raise between 25 and 30K per year for NRA Foundation.

Yep. Even with it's faults the NRA is the best thing going for all gun owners period!!

At the last minute in November, the NRA dumped a half-million dollars into GOP Senate races, including beyond-a-lost-cause races like Rick Santorum (and another schmuck who was going to get blasted).

Now tell me, what did the NRA funding a no-hope Republican like Santorum (against a moderate Democrat) do to protect my RKBA?

As an organization, it routinely sends 80-90% of its money to GOP candidates. This is roughly the same breakdown as anti-gun groups for Dems vs. Reps.

Let's get this over with....

Before they all start chiming in, let's go ahead and catalogue the anti-NRA arguments:

1) It is an unbearable burden on my mental health to receive fund raising mailings from the NRA. I agree with their political lobbying and supporting the election of pro-gun politicians, but why are they always trying to raise money to do these things? I realize I have the option of calling the NRA and getting myself on the "reduced mailings" list, but that's just too much work for me to cope with.

2) Instead of focusing on realistic, achievable political gains and a bit-by-bit strategy, the NRA should be working towards a grand-slam, fix-everything-at-once-and-make-it-perfect-forever RKBA action. Like, for instance, going to the Supreme Court and forcing them to rule that the 2nd ammendment protects my right to fire off naval artillery in my suburban neighborhood. That's why I have withdrawn my support from the NRA and am giving all my money to the "Naval Guns for Everybody Everywhere" organization.

3) The NRA allowed the Assault Weapons Ban to get passed. Don't they realize that just because the Congress passes a bill and the President signs it, that doesn't necessarily make it law? I think they deliberately allowed this law to pass because it was part of a back-room secret deal with the Brady Campaign.

4) The NRA is racist. Michael Moore said so on Oprah, and I saw a cartoon on an anti-NRA site that showed the gun banners in poor lighting, and in my college Political Correctness class I was taught that poor lighting is a racist code for minorities.

5) The NRA is really just a front for the Republicans. If all they cared about was gun owner rights, they'd be endorsing prominent Democrats like Hilary, Schumer, Kennedy, Fienstein, and so on. The fact that increasing gun control is actually part of the Democratic party platform should not prejudice the NRA against Democrats.

6) The NRA is really just a front for the big business gun manufacturers. Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnel both say so, so it must be true. Besides, what do I care if the anti-gunners drive all the gun and ammo companies out of business? I reload, cast my own bullets, make my own powder from urine and charcoal, and manufacture all my own guns from iron I smelt in my garage. I don't need those stinking big-business gun companies around, and neither does anybody else. Being able to actually buy guns and ammo in stores legally has nothing to do with my right to keep and bear arms.

There are probably a couple more, and we will start seeing them posted here soon, but they are basically variations on the above.

NRA member since about 1981. Also a long-time member of GOA. Supporter of the Bill of Rights. Angry that there is not a life imprisonment clause when govt swear they will enforce the Constitution and Bill of Rights when sweared in and then try their best to tear them down afterwards. This is perjury and treason. They should be tracked down like Saddam, even if they committed their crimes long ago. This is where there should be zero tolerance.

I had requested not to receive the magazine. I would rather my dues be used for buying votes instead of unread stuffing in my recycle bin. They finally almost stopped calling after I kept blowing a whistle over the phone.

So much for our national and state no call lists.

hotpig,

A very odd stance from someone who makes his living retailing gun related products. I would think someone in your shoes would be the NRA's biggest supporter. As a customer of yours your position concerns me.

Yes Im a Member of the NRA. I do wish they would not send me all those renewal forms a couple days after you pay your membership.

yes, thanks to Taurus they gave me a one year membership just for buying a PT-92. Check out the website for info. :neener: Thanks Taurus for helping me support my right to bear arms:evil:
