In these trying time of varying ammo availability, it can be a good idea to have an Ammo Buddy. The general idea; Your Ammo Buddy notices a few boxes of a caliber you shoot at the local Wally World. He calls you up and offers to pick them up for you. You agree and later buy them at cost, with maybe a few bucks for tax, gas, a thank-you, etc. Ammo Buddy services are generally reciprocal.

I've done this on occasion for folks, and I usually keep a few boxes over my comfort level for emergency range trips.

So, do you have an Ammo Buddy?

Yep, what we do is if one of us is at store X and see something that the other uses that is either not commonly found or for a good price I'll call they other and see if they want a few boxes and then we settle up at the next range trip.

honestly I have trouble keeping track of what calibers I have, nevermind someone else. But I will get a few guys together to buy multiple cases from the online vendors.

I'm my own ammo buddy. I currently shoot only 3 calibers. Every time I pass by walmart, I buy a few boxes of whichever of those calibers is available. This results in always having a few hundred rounds of each caliber on hand. It's getting me by until I accumulate enough brass for reloading.

Hello friends and neighbors // Yep I am and have ammo buddies, also firearm buddies. We all know what each other is looking for. I travel from time to time so I find some unusual deals.
Now, one guy keeps saying if we find a decent 870 for under $175.00 it's his but he will have to wait a long time to get it if I find it.
Hunting ammo, one of us finds a deal and just says take what you need(all of or gear stays in the same room). Some of the .30-06 and 12ga. in my ammo can there is years old but reliable, we do try to cycle old for new.
Same with blinds, salt licks...heck we even shoot each others rifles/shotguns if the need arises.

Sure do it happens all the time. A lot of times me and my buddies will be going up to our cabin for the weekend. Witchever one of us happens to be at wallyworld getting groceries will always call someone and see if they need shells so we can break clays, or do some plinking with .22s ect. A few weeks ago a buddy called me and said he was at wallyworld and they had .45acp bulkpacks so he picked up a couple bricks for us.
Most recently a buddy picked me up a box of 3" turkey loads because I totally forgot I was out. Having "ammo buddies" has saved me out of the way trips numerous times.

I've actually got a guy who works in one of the WallyWorld stores in my area who will send me an email from time to time when the .380 stock is high. I ran into him one day in the store, knew him from another life, and he was good to go for the favor. It's like having a source inside the bank vault.

I haven't really needed one... even thru the main part of the shortage, I was able to find what I needed, maybe not in the quantity I wanted, but never did without.....

Everybody needs at least one ammo buddy in time like this. I just came back from Walmart and while there called my ammo buddy relaying that 9mm was back in stock.

I have both Ammo Buddies and Gun Buddies. I also do the same for them, always on the lookout for something they need or are interested in. Usually it's more at the gunshows than at any stores.

No, I have always had enough 22 ammo on hand even if I am having trouble finding ammo for months. Centerfire ammo is another story. But I try to prepare for the lean times. If I run out, I run out.

Occasionally someone I know will tell me where they found some ammo and I do the same. I do it more with firearms. I don't want someone buying something special for me unless I specifically authorize it. That used to happen with guns and I got tired of buying stuff I didn't particularly want, just because so-in-so was selling, or had purchased the firearm thinking I would want it. Thing is, they always made a profit and I was selling often at a loss after buying from them just to get rid of it.
