Not including THR and range buddies, do you guys have gun friends?

Twoblink lived in my city for a month before shipping off to Taiwan, but two weeks of it was with Oleg and Betty.

10-ring is the next closes I have, but lives in the next county and already has a kid he takes care of and doesn't need a second.

I have some range buddies that I hang out with at and after a sporting or training event, but don't talk to them the other six days of the week.

Does anyone else not have gun buddies they see on a regular basis? Or is that most of us?

I think generally, people gravitate towards others of similar interests and values--

My firends (at least those I have kept the longest) have primarily been met through a sharing of interests -- even within another enviornment--

I have a friend that has been close to me for more than 30 years-- since mid hi-school and we started with a firearms interest--

One of the Partners I had as a cop has remained a very close friend for over 20 yrs and is a firearms enthusiast.

Not all my friends are "into" firearms and I never developed a friendship comparable to the above two based solely on shared firearms interest--

Similiar interests and values equal respect
Shared respect equals friendship--

I don't have many friends ( 1 ) that is a fellow gun enthusiast. I have a few aquaintences through my security gig that are, but they are just mainly guys I work with and don't hand out with too much. I'm a convert, so a lot of my close friends from college are either anti or otherwise not interested, so I get my fix here and at the range when I can go. But I go to the range when there aren't many, if any, other shooters there.

Well, my best friend lives in Norway. He is interested in guns, owns guns and likes to shoot. We met because we were both looking for info about - you guessed it! - guns (the evil, black kind). ;)

Well, I'm pretty intimate with my Garand! :D

Fortunately, I do have a couple of gun nut buddies. I kind of got them started, so it's a mixed feeling.

Me: Dude, that Garand is waay cool, man!
Buddy: Yeah, but I gotta start paying my student loans.
Me: Uh, let's watch "Band of Brothers" again....

These guys also play hockey with me, and we go airsofting every now and then, so we share a lot of common interests. It's pretty neat, actually.

What's also cool is talking guns at the hockey rink. Inevitably, someone else will overhear and say, "You're into guns, too? Alright! I have a blah-blah-blah, and a blah-blah-blah..." And then you see these people in a whole different way.

Some face-to-face with some TFL/THR folks; some neighbors who shoot or reload or hunt or "all of the above"...

I dunno. Three or four very-close shooter-friends who are in my mutual-interest circle, plus another 25-ish folks who are between acquaintance and real friendship who are in the wacky world of guns.

You need to put an ad at the range for starting a local gun club..

BTW, it's valentine's day in Korea today, did you say hi to Grace Kim yet? Send her a Valentine's day card on your website?:D

I work in retail and work most weekends and late night weekdays so it's hard to find someone to shoot with. Would like to, I think shooting with a buddy sure is alot more fun.

Yep!!

I have some old school/work buddies that are rabid gun fans that I shoot with on a regular basis.. It helps that they live only a few miles away..One of them is a Glock/Toyota Hilux nut, the other is a Sig Sauer/Jeep Cherokee fanatic.. They are just as crazy about there favorite automobile as they are about their favorite brand of firearms.

I wish that they would join this website. They just simply refuse..They are both members of either GlockTalk or Sigforums but, they rarely type anything... One of them was a longtime lurker over on TFL yet he would never get his lazy butt off the fence. :banghead:

I think that it may be time to trade them in on some new ones.:D

one of my supervisors and i can waste good portions of the day talking about civil war weapons/tactics, WWII stories, Vietnam (took a few years before he opened up about that, then it was like a flood of info about his tour there) and modern warfare/weapons.

the unusual thing is, hes a gun buff, but has no interest in shooting at all. his explanation is that he lost the desire to fire any weapons.
but we'll let loose with bb and pellet guns on unsuspecting soda cans.

aside from that, my brother always has a question about handguns. i still am trying to talk him into buying a shotgun. his ruger p90 cant be the only thing he relies on for home defense.

Most of my friends are gun people the funny thing is we recycle-we trade guns to each other ,that way it stays in the family.:)

I have one really good gun friend that has been my bud ever since we were about 12 yrs old. We're now 42 and stiill get together to shoot as often as possible and now we bring our kids. Then there's the guys at work:D We even call lunchtime on Friday the gun club meeting. We all go out for lunch and meet another guy from another shop and just talk guns. We rarely get together to shoot though just because its too hard to get very many of us together on the weekends.

My "best" friends, the ones that I would trust with my life, are all "gun" friends. One is a Sheriff, the other a mortgage broker.
I am a Contractor. We (three) all have combos and access to each others safes and instructions on what to do if something bad should happen to one of the group. I do have other good friends but I have learned that in life there will only be one or two Inner circle type friends who know you inside and out and still love you anyway.

ALL my friends are gun friends. They are the ones I can trust with my last dollar.my best gun or if soemthing happens to watch my back.Over the past 4 yrs I have trimed my friends down to 6 friends that meet all the regurments I need in a friend.
Might sound like I am a little wacky witch is true but I sure know I have people I can count on in a pinch and that is what counts.
Bob
Its better to have one GOOD friend then many friends that you can't count on

Three guys I'd go to the mat for are big-time gun guys. Labgrade's one of them, plus a couple of guys I worked with at The Armory while in Virginia.

I have a lot of buddies who are pretty apathetic on the whole issue, and a lot of pals who are very pro-gun, and almost no one I associate with is anti.

Oh, my dad's rabidly pro-gun, but he's way beyond even "friend" in terms of what I'd do for him.

Question should have been, "Do you have any friends who are not gun nuts?" :D

I don't socialize with anyone who doesn't shoot guns of some sort unless I am at school, and even there I mainly hang-out with a couple people who are gun owners and shooters. I just don't trust anyone who doesn't believe in securing their own security, and if I can't trust you, I don't want you around me. I've got maybe five-ten close friends right now, and i'd trust any of em for anything. I hope they feel the same about me. That's not to say we don't have disagreements on things at times, but that is all minor stuff.

Have a pact with one buddy that if ever stranded in the wilderness, instead of being a cannibal, we are limited to using each others liver for bait.:D

I don't have any gun friends that I see outside of the shooting range. I've taken a couple of em to the range and they have shot a little, but none have ever expressed a desire to become a shooter.

On the other hand, I'm friends with almost everyone who shows up for the monthly bowling pin and .22 steel shoots that we have every month.

My 2 best friends (known them both for well over 30 years, and I'm only 32 yearts old) are BOTH enthusiasts... we grew up that way...

my other 4 closest friends are not "enthusiasts" but are "owners" understanding AND tolerant of my hobby...
